Episode # 10228
Tape Date: 12/8/05
Air Date: 1/12/06;
Director: Roger Inman

Summary: Sami and Lucas play the blame game…Claire has her surgery…Chelsea fears the worst and begs Max for help…as the cops continue to question Bo for answers.

At Lucas’s apartment…he and Sami are going at it in bed. Afterward, they are both talking about how incredible it was…oops, it was all just a fantasy (now WHY did I suspect that?) Actually they are still talking as she claims she was only sleepwalking and both have flashbacks of their respective dreams. She says she thinks he regrets breaking up with her but he says what they had is over. They argue some and both accuse each other for what happened. She storms off (wrapped in his sheet) as he follows wanting his sheet back. She says he managed to take off her nightgown and she couldn’t find it. She will return the sheet later. In the living room, they argue some more and he asks IF she was dreaming of Austin, then why didn’t she just ‘sleepwalk’ a few feet instead of all the way to his bed. Well, she doesn’t have an answer for that one but Lucas says he knows…she was dreaming of HIM. She puffs up and insists she WAS dreaming of Austin. Lucas tells her to just leave, he has a better chance with Carrie than she will ever have with Austin. He tells her he has checked with her astrologer and there is no one in her future…she will end up all alone with four walls and possibly a cat. She spits out “we’ll see” and storms out. In the hall, she says SHE will have the last laugh on him. Lucas will be the one all alone and she will have Austin. She goes back to her apartment and crawls into bed. She says once Carrie finds out that Austin is taking over her company, she will never speak to him again and she will get Austin. Lucas will be the one alone and miserable. In his bed, Lucas is sure that Austin will never get involved with Sami again and once Carrie learns the truth, HE will be the one with Carrie.

At the Hospital…Lexie leans on Abe for support before the surgery. They talk about losing ‘Isaac’ again. Abe thinks she is not up to the surgery, but she is determined she can do it. She says she couldn’t save Zack, but she must make sure she can save Claire. Later, the surgery is in progress as she is taking Zack’s liver. She gives commentary as she is telling ‘Isaac’ he is doing a wonderful thing and how this will be a miracle, saving Claire. The other doctors tells her that Claire is ready to receive the liver, but she is bleeding quite a bit and her blood pressure is dropping and it doesn’t look optimistic.

In Claire’s room…Shawn tells Belle and Philip if Claire lives it is like Zack will live on. Belle talks about how much she loved Zack and Shawn hugs her. Mimi goes to get them water as Bonnie rails her out for leaving Shawn and Belle alone. Belle cries on Shawn’s shoulder saying she doesn’t know how he or his family will make it through this. But he is more focused on the driver being punished. He tells Belle to just concentrate on Claire. Bonnie pushes Mimi go get back in there and be by Shawn’s side, even though Mimi says all that is irrelevant right now. Bonnie tells her SHE should be the one comforting Shawn, not Belle. Eventually, Mimi goes back inside and Shawn thanks her for being there. Philip returns (he went to check on Claire) and tells everyone the surgery is underway.

They all talk about how it was a miracle that Zack was a match for Claire and Mimi begins to talk about it. Bonnie comes in wishing everyone well and offering condolences to Shawn, trying to assure everyone that things will work out. She practically drags Mimi out into the hallway and tells her that she should not be talking about things like that (Zack being a match for Claire) outloud. Belle has a feeling that things aren’t going well, but Philip encourages her to be positive. But Shawn is sure that something good will come out of Zack’s death. Bonnie tries to convince Mimi not to dig into the fact that Zack and Claire were a match. She says right now, Mimi needs to concentrate on being supportive to Shawn. She tells her to get herself together and get back in there (well, Bonnie, YOU are the one who keeps making her leave!) After Mimi goes back inside, Bonnie says ‘Shawn CAN’T be Claire’s father…oh God…you can’t do that to us” (does she KNOW the truth?) Mimi hugs Shawn and assures him that they will all make it through this. They all go to the chapel to pray. After , Shawn tells Mimi that God is watching out for Zack now and he is going to help Clarie. Mimi assures him that someday they will all see him again. Lexie comes and tells Belle and Philip that the surgery was a success, but they need to keep praying. The next few days will be critical and they are hoping she doesn’t reject the liver. Shawn is sure that there is a reason for all of this and is sure that Clarie will make it so Zack can live on.

Elsewhere in the Hospital…Chelsea is trying to convince herself that it wasn’t her that hit Zack. Max walks up and wants to know what is wrong and she says it’s all her fault. Meanwhile, the cops are saying it was Bo that was driving the vehicle that killed Zack as Bo flies off the handle at them, calling them incompetent. Hope says they are wrong but the cops says they have proof that it was Bo’s vehicle that hit Zack. Hope says she and Bo are the only ones who drive it and asks Bo if he lent it to anyone (as he has the flashback of Chelsea begging for the car). Bo wants to see their proof. Max asks Chelsea what was her fault and she tells him that she overheard the cops and realized that she may be the one that hit Zack. She goes to pieces saying if it is true, she could never forgive herself and can’t imagine how Bo and Hope will react. Bo looks at their report as the cops explain what they know. Hope tells Bo to tell them the truth and goes ballistic as Jen comes over and pulls her away. Bo tells them he was NOT the driver and they ask who was, but he tells them he must check on Hope. He explains to her that the two cops are rookies and have made a mistake and he needs to talk to them. He assures her it is all a misunderstanding and leaves. Hope is distraught and Jen tells her she needs to trust Bo, but she says she is confused about what the cops said. Bo stops to talk to Abe as the cops wonder why he is avoiding them and not giving them a statement. Abe asks Bo if there are any leads and he tells Abe of the evidence. Bo swears it was not him as Abe asks if he lent the car to anyone. Max and Chelsea walk in with her begging for his help to help get her out of Salem. Abe wants the truth from Bo as Chelsea tells Max that Bo is staring at her and she can’t stay there. She fears going to prison as Bo tells Abe that he must find out what happened before he talks to anyone else. Abe tells him he needs to be honest with Hope. Hope overhears this and asks him, honest about what? The cops refuse to leave until they get a statement from Bo. Hope wants the truth from Bo and asks if he knows something about the accident…she just wants answers. She is becoming more and more agitated as Jen goes to Lexie (who is there now) for help, suggesting something to calm her down. But Hope is demanding the truth…NOW! Lexie gives her something but Hope says she only wants the answers. She starts crying all over again as the cops return and says they want Bo’s statement. Abe holds them off and tells them that Bo will talk to them, but right now he needs to be with his wife. Hope tells Jen that she needs to find out who killed her baby. The cops remind Abe that he is not the commander anymore and even though Bo Brady is a cop he is still either a suspect or knows who did it. If he refuses to talk to them, that is obstruction of justice. Bo storms over to Chelsea, telling Max he needs to talk to his daughter alone. Bo tells her he wants the truth…did you hit Zack?...Did you KILL MY SON?? Freeze frame on Bo’s face as the previews show…

Hope (mumbling to Jen): Zack…oh please God…don’t’ take him from me…

Bo (yelling at Chelsea): You hit my son…you killed Zack…

John (to Abe): My main concern is Marlena. At least now, I know she is safe. (An unconscious Alex is thinking): Safe? She’s not safe at all…

Lois (to a sleeping Marlena): Now look what you have done…you are going to PAY for this…

As the credits roll…
