Episode No: 10,178
Directed by: Phil Sogard
Tape Date: 9/28/05

SUMMARY: It must be late as no trick or treaters ring the doorbells of either loft or the Deveraux’s today. Shawn and Mimi return home and come to Philip’s rescue; Lexie makes a house call and John and Alex argue once again at Alice’s.

(Happy Birthday to Deidre Hall (Marlena) whose birthday is on Halloween)

AT THE LOFTS..
Philip tries to calm a crying Claire as Belle stares out their bedroom window upstairs. Philip is amazed that Belle doesn’t hear the baby and is sleeping through it.

Shawn and Mimi return home and hear baby Claire crying her lungs out across the hall. He remembers how JT use to cry like that and they found out he was sick. He decides to share that wisdom with Philip..who opens the door looking totally stressed out and glad they’re there. Philip gives the baby to Mimi and goes up to check on Belle. Mimi asks Shawn to take Claire and he does. Philip is surprised (but only a little) that Belle is awake and she acknowledges she heard the baby, but knew he’d take care of it. He tells her she’s not right (apparently right enough to fix her hair and make up though, LOL) and she agrees with him, crying she might never be right again. She gets argumentative when he tries to tell her she will be. Everything makes her anxious and she can’t focus. He asks if she’s taking the medication (good grief, he expects HER to remember to take it?). She tells him no and he gives her one. Claire has stopped crying and when he points it out, she freaks out that he left the baby alone. He tells her Shawn and Mimi are down there with her. He notices how upset she gets when he mentions their name together and figures it’s because she’s afraid of losing Shawn. They talk about how strained Belle and Mimi’s friendship is. He doesn’t feel threatened by Shawn as he knows he has Belle’s heart.

Downstairs Mimi remembers Bonnie putting her to sleep listening to Willie Nelson and Shawn admits using rock to put JT to sleep. They put Claire down and turn on the tv to music videos and lo and behold….guess what’s playing….LOL…the new Rolling Stones STREETS OF LOVE video. Shawn’s concerned if Mimi would get upset thinking about Rex again, but she assures him she’s okay. We join them later when the tv’s off again and Claire’s asleep. Philip comes down and tells them that Belle’s resting and he didn’t want to wake her. Philip admits the post partum thing is harder than he thought. He doesn’t mind getting up in the middle of the night with Claire, but she’s fussier than she should be. Mimi feels for Philip, but he admits being obsessed with his situation and loves his wife and daughter so much. Shawn suggests he and Mimi take Claire home with them for the night and let Philip get some sleep and focus on Belle. He didn’t have to ask twice as Philip hands Claire to Shawn and the bottle to Mimi, thanking them profusely. You can see Mimi’s not excited about the idea, but Shawn assures Philip they’re her Godparents and happy to do it.

Walking across the hall he gives Claire to Mimi and the baby starts crying. He apologizes, realizing he forgot to ask if it was okay with her. Mimi says she’s a big girl and just to open the door so she can give the baby back to him, LOL. Philip walks in and hears Belle trying to rationalize she should be happy now with a loving husband and healthy beautiful daughter.

AT ALICES
A replay of Marlena remembering dancing with the man she loved as Alex finds the charm on the floor. Jack picks up and twirls Jennifer and collapses to the floor. Jennifer calls for help and John runs to the rescue. Jack claims to have just tripped on his cape as Frankie urges him to go to the hospital. Jack refuses and only asks for water and John rushes to get it, leaving Alex the opportunity to check on Marlena. She’s frustrated as she knows she’s a doctor and should be able to help too. He lifts the necklace to his side, tells her to take a deep breath and do everything he says. He wants her to tell John she wants to go home and never see him again. He tries to tell her that he knows what’s best for her and when she questions if that’s true.. he says, it’s true. He tells her he’s the only one who cares about her and he’s the only one who loves her.

Jack refuses to go to the hospital, but tells Jen if she doesn’t mind going home with a crumbled caped crusader, he’ll go there. Frankie tells them his car is outside and he’ll drive them home and he and Jack leave. Jen waits and asks John to call Lexie and ask her to meet them at their home. She knows what he went through with Isabella and now having problem with Marlena too and wishes someone in Salem could be happy (I second that girl!!) She joins the guys and John calls Lexie.

DEVERAUX HOME
Lexie’s at the door waiting and Jack jokes it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s JACK MAN as he opens the door. Jack tells Lexie to go back to the hospital (how about home to Abe for a change) and dole out some meds there. Jen says she’ll go make some tea and Jack says she remembers him more and more of her grandmother. Frankie tells him to take it easy..but Jack replies that’s a compliment as he admires Alice. She makes a mean cup of tea and a hell of a donut. Frankie offers to help Jennifer, telling Jack he wants to get her away from him. In the kitchen Frankie knows Jennifer’s scared as she tries to stay strong. She admits feeling it’s the beginning of the end and she’s so scared as she.walks into his open arms and cries. She starts to make tea and Frankie knows how hard this is on Jennifer as she had to mourn after thinking she lost Jack twice before. Jen breaks down again, feeling bad that Abby will lose her funny daddy.

Lexie tells Jack (when asked) that he’s getting weaker and she’s so sorry. He gives her time to think as he goes to change into regular clothes, but he wants it straight as to how much time he has left. He returns back in regular clothes and she tells him he will lose muscle control as his illness progresses. She offers to get him a private nurse when he refuses to have his wife and daughter help him. He knows Jen would be there for him and says one person in the house in diapers is enough. She tells him at the end he’ll need 24 hr. care. Jack tells her he’s going to commit suicide..or Jackaside as he refers to it. She refuses to give him medication to help him kill himself and Jen agrees as she walks in the door. She only heard the medicine could be addictive, but he reminds her that won’t be a problem. She goes back to finish the tea and Jack tells Lexie that’s what he’s talking about…how Jennifer will be affected. Jack tells Lexie that no one will know when he leaves this planet and can grieve without going through the misery. Lexie tells him the ritual of saying goodbye is necessary and helpful. Lexie refuses to help him in his quest, her ethics won’t allow it. He tells her that her ethics also make her keep their conversation private too. Later Lexie tells Jennifer what to expect as Frankie and Jack watch. Jack admits to Frankie that it hurts to know that Frankie loves Jen, but having him there for Jennifer is his gift to her. He hugs Frankie after he confirms he’ll be there for her.

BACK AT ALICES…
John walks back to Marlena (and Alex) (about time, we just saw Jack talking to Lexie, so they’re home already and John’s just walking up to them??) and Alex tells him that he and Marlena are in love. (notice how quiet it is at Alice’s…between the music and other people talking you usually need to talk loudly to hear anything in a place like that, LOL) John calls Alex on being a fake and isolating Marlena from the people who love her to make her think she loves him. He’s not taking his wife of 20 years away from him like this. Alex talks calmly, assuring John that he and Marlena are in love and he’s not a quack. He tells Alex that Marlena was about to tell him she loved him when Jack fell and he knows it, warning Alex he can pack his bags. Marlena asks Alex to take her home as John turns her around and tries to tell her what Alex is doing to her. Alex insists he loves Marlena and John’s the reason she lost her memory by fighting with Roman. He filed a restraining order and John gets irate, raising his voice (which only frightens Marlena more) saying nothing will keep him from his wife and for Alex to stay away from her. He grabs Alex’s arm and Alex in turn threatens to have John arrested for assault if he refuses to let Marlena leave with him. He turns to tell John that although John feels he’s trying to convince Marlena she doesn’t love him, it’s obvious that his and Marlena’s love is stronger. (If you watch Marlena’s reaction to that, you get the feeling she’s listening and taking this all in.) They walk out and freeze frame of John’s face.

PREVIEWS:

Mimi’s freaking and point at Claire, saying she doesn’t know what to do. Shawn rushes in and goes to the baby.

Belle: “what’s wrong with me” and grabs the bottle of meds (okay Philip, why do you think she can administer them to herself?) and pours the whole bottle in her hand as Philip rushes in saying, “Belle…No….”

Austin to Nicole: “It’s not easy giving up on someone you love.”
Nicole: The reason you’re not telling me this woman’s name is because I already know her, it’s me.”

Sami shouts at Lucas: “you love me as much as I love you.”
Lucas shouts back: That’s right, I love you but I can’t do this” as Sami grabs his face and pulls him in for a big kiss….

Episode # 10177
Tape Date: 9/29/05
Air Date: 10/31/05
Director: Phil Sogard

Summary: Halloween comes to Salem! This is a fun show, but one of those that is hard to summarize, with everyone in one place, with lots of little conversations going on. If I miss things, I apologize. Everyone comes down on Shawn for dropping out of college…John seems to be getting through to Marlena (as does Belle)…Jack and Jennifer have a fun evening…that is until tragedy strikes.

At the Deveraux House…Jen has answered the phone, but is having trouble hearing the other party as Jack tries to get the phone away from her. Jen asks if they said something about “suicide”? Jack grabs the phone and tries to cover, saying the call was about a side of sushi. But Jen doesn’t buy it and tells Hope that Jack is up to something. Later, the 4 of them enjoy their pizza as Jen comments on how Jack has not lost his appetite. As Jen and Hope clean up, Bo asks Jack if he is feeling okay and tells him again that if there is anything he can do, just let him know. Again, Jack asks him to look out after his family after he is gone. Jen and Hope return as Jack hugs Jen and tells her he loves her and suggests they go out dancing. Jen doesn’t think it is a good idea, but he reminds her that Abby is at a party and Mickey and Maggie volunteered to watch Jack Jr. He assures her that he feels fine and is up to it.

At Alice’s Bar…Belle and Philip arrive for the Halloween party and Belle is (surprise) in a bad mood. Philip asks her if it is the PPD or is she upset because she saw Shawn’s car in the parking lot. She tries to convince him she doesn’t have a problem with Shawn and Mimi (cue ‘Streets of Love’) and she storms inside. Inside, Shawn and Mimi are working the party (he bartending, she waiting tables) dressed as Tarzan and Jane (at Bonnie’s insistence). He talks about his new job and how his mom is disappointed in him for dropping out of school. Mimi says her mom could care less and mocks her saying that Bonnie would tell him that if he wants to build up his female clientele he should work on cars wearing a speedo. Roman arrives (sans costume) as Bonnie stops him and puts a white cowboy hat and badge on him. (LOL at where she wants to put the badge…use your imagination). He sees John and Marlena across the room. As John and Marlena talk, he seems to be getting through to her. Alex arrives as Bonnie also gives him a hard time as well about no costume. She puts a black hat on his head, telling him he can be the villain. He spies John and Marlena and tells himself he has work to do. Just as John spots him, he gets a call from Frankie to warn him that Alex is there. John asks Marlena to look into his eyes as Roman advises Alex not to bother them. But Alex swears he is only trying to help her and that if she regains her memory, he has a cured patient…John has Marlena and Roman will get nothing, as he strolls off.

At the bar, Shawn offers again to dip into his trust fund to help Mimi, but she refuses. He says that everyone must do what is right for themselves and that dropping out of school is what is right for him. Belle walks up and hears this and tells him he is doing the wrong thing, he is making a huge mistake. (Listen to her Shawn, this is coming from someone who KNOWS…after all she married someone she didn’t love). He doesn’t want to hear it, and tells her that he is just taking her advice…and is getting on with his life. Belle thinks he is just throwing his life away as he walks off and Philip tells her to let it go. Belle spots her mom and dad and goes over to talk to them as Philip complains to Meems about Belle’s mood swings.

Marlena asks Belle what is wrong as Belle begins to whine, then apologizes. Marlena thinks they need a trip to the ladies room so off they go. Roman sits with John as he tells him he thinks he is getting through to Marlena. Roman tells him he is on his side and wants to get rid of the good doctor. In the ladies room, Belle whines and cries to Marlena about how she has missed her. Marlena tells her she is there for her now as Belle boo-hoos about how she messed up her life and is a failure. Marlena asks if it is really the PPD or is it because she has lost Shawn. Belle says that Shawn has moved on and so has she. Belle says she shouldn’t be bothering her with all this, but Marlena assures her that things are going to change…she loves her and wants to be a part of her life again. Both are crying as they hug. Belle says she only wants her mom and dad back together so they can be a family again.

Philip and Shawn are talking about his new job when Bo and Hope arrive. She wastes no time in lighting into him about dropping school. Back at the table, John tells Marlena that he doesn’t think it was her idea for the divorce (as she has a flashback of Alex telling her to put John out of her life). He tells her that they were in love and all she has to do is believe that. He talks about Belle as Marlena has flashbacks of baby Belle and smiles. He tells her that they all love her and need her so much. Roman is watching them and thinks that maybe John IS getting through to her. Bonnie walks up and asks Roman if Marlena gets her memory back , WHO will she remember, him or John. Roman says that no one will ever come between her and John. Alex is getting antsy and pulls out the necklace to go work on Marlena before John gets through to her. But Bonnie bumps into him and he loses the charm off the necklace. Bonnie finds it on the floor and adheres to the “finders keepers” rule and decides to place it in a resting spot…right between her bosoms (LOL). Alex realizes it is gone and begins searching for it. John walks over and asks him what he is looking for and Alex says he lost his keys. John hands him his and tells him, take my car and leave (LOL). He tells him Alex that Marlena is with her husband and is just fine, go home. He informs him that before the night is over, Marlena WILL change her mind about the divorce. Bonnie is hitting on Roman again (as she flashes her new boob jewelry) and suggests they have a good time. He finally gives in (with a “what da hell”). At the bar, Shawn doesn’t want to hear it from his mom as she goes on and on about him quitting school. She becomes exasperated that no one will support her on this. She pulls the “he’s your son…talk to him” trick and storms off, shaking her head. Bo asks him to try to appease his mom but Shawn doesn’t want to talk about it anymore, saying he has to make his own decisions.

Outside, Jack is on the phone with the assisted-suicide-person when Jen walks out and catches him. He sees her and lies and tells her that he was calling to check his horoscope (and just HOW gullible is she?). He cuts the conversation off and tells her that his horoscope says that if he is with the woman he loves, they will have a “super” time. She begins to question him as they go inside. Later, he walks up behind her wearing a red and black super hero costume (complete with mask and cape) and surprises her asking her to dance. He promises her he feels fine as he kisses her. He says “up up and away” as he picks her up and begins to swing her around.

Hope catches up with Belle and they take comfort in knowing that they are the only ones that are upset over Shawn quitting school. Hope confides that she doesn’t think that Mimi may be the best influence on Shawn. Well, of course, Bonnie overhears this and is all over Hope like white on rice. Back at the Black table, Marlena tells John she really wants to get her memory back, so he tells her to close her eyes as he describes their time in New Orleans. As he does this, she has flashbacks and he slips a ring on her finger…and she says she remembers. Meanwhile, Alex hands the DJ a CD and asks him to play it. The creepy music starts as John begins to lose Marlena and she goes into a stupor. On the dance floor, Jack complains to the DJ about the music so he turns it off and puts on another CD. John asks Marlena what happened (oh come on John…you didn’t notice the music???). She says she was distracted. Now back with him, he asks her to dance so they go out on the dance floor and Alex says DAMN and continues to search for the charm.

Bo and Roman talk as Bo notices that Bonnie and Hope are in a conversation and notes that neither of them look too happy. Bonnie informs Hope that NO ONE makes snide remarks about her Mimi. As Mimi and Shawn walk over, Bonnie embellishes what Hope said, saying she called them losers and goes on to say FOR HER INFORMATION, she (Bonnie) is a graduate of Hair Hoppers House of Beauty…working on her truck drivers license, is almost certified in home heating and air conditioning repair and is THIS CLOSE to being certified in VCR repair. ROFL as Hope comments she has taken every course offered on matchbook covers. Bonnie calls her “princess Hope” as Mimi is totally embarrassed and rushes out the door in tears…closely followed by Shawn. Philip sees this and asks Belle what that was all about, but Belle tells him she just wants to leave. John and Marlena dance as she tells him she KNOWS this is where she belongs. Bonnie storms by as Alex sees the charm bouncing between her “girls”. Outside, Shawn tells Mimi it doesn’t matter what their mothers think and he kisses her…just as Philip and Belle walk by and see them. Cue sad look from Belle. Bo asks Hope what was going on between her and Bonnie but she tells him she has had enough confrontation for one evening. Roman tries to lighten Bonnie’s spirits and ropes her, asking what he can do to help. When he does this, the charm falls from it’s ample resting place to the floor and Alex retrieves it. John asks Marlena if she is remembering anything as she looks at him and says she remembers the man she loves. Meanwhile, Jack and Jennifer are having a great time as he picks her up and spins her around…until he collapses to the floor and she begins yelling for help…and the previews show…

Shawn (holding baby Clare): Mimi and I…we can handle her…

Philip (to a sobbing Belle): Every time I mention the 2 of them together, you get very upset. (Belle): I do NOT…(Philip): Because you are afraid of losing Shawn…

Jennifer (to Frankie): I should not be leaning on you like this. (Frankie): I have a perfectly good shoulder going to waste…

Alex (to John): There’s no point trying to hide this any longer…Marlena and I are in love…

Friday, October 28th

Episode #: 10176
Directed by: Herb Stein
Tape Date: 9/23/05

John's determination to get Marlena alone pays off; Austin Inc. kicks into gear while Titan's nervous about the competition (oh sure); and the Brady's and Deveraux's deal with their own issues.

PENTHOUSE
John’s temper gets the better of him and he goes after Alex. Frankie and Marlena stop him and she tells him to stop it. Frankie tells John they should leave and Alex agrees. I think Marlena is listening as John warns her that she would never have asked for a divorce if he hadn’t brain washed her into doing it. She tells John to go and goes into a trance after he leaves. Alex says it’s time for her to forget John Black. As he hypnotizes her we hear the clock again and her remembering John telling her to think of him each time the clock chimes (interesting how we never heard this clock chime until recently, LOL) She asks what if he’s wrong about John. He says any more contact with John would be damaging to her.

By the elevator, John and Frankie talk. Frankie figures there’s got to be something inside Marlena to help remember him. Just when Marlena asks Alex what if he’s wrong about John, John mentally asks Marlena to remember him and flashbacks of him putting the ring on her finger and feeding her wedding cake and dancing with her at their reception. Alex calls for a restraining order and Marlena rushes out the door and John’s still in the hallway. She tells Alex she wants to spend some time with John. Alex says that would be a terrible mistake, but staring at John, she says she wants to go with him and asks when. John says right now and she goes up to change. Alex tells John he called for a restraining order and Marlena comes back out (wow…phone booth in the living room?) in her sparkly black gown. John tells Frankie to make sure Alex doesn’t follow them (Alex doesn’t like that you can see) and he and Marlena step into the elevator. Alex tells Frankie he can’t stop him from leaving and rushes out the door with Frankie in his wake. We see Marlena and John are already at Alices (at least he didn’t go to Chez Rouge, the normal hangout). She asks if they came there often (as the Stones new song plays in the background…enough already). He tells her they did when it was Tuscany, but it’s under new ownership now as he smells his drink before taking a sip, LOL. He didn’t want her to feel pressure. She admits feeling confused and disoriented. He’s happy saying it’s a major breakthrough that she’s out with him. She asks if he has any major words that would help her make sense of this. He takes her hand and kisses it, saying them magic words are I LOVE YOU. Her eyes fill up with tears at that.

AUSTIN INC.
Sami and Austin chat about Nicole’s involvement in his new company and she casually shares her frustration. He got Nicole a new laptop to use and when she arrives, she claims it and tells Sami she’s going to be fielding calls and such. Later Nicole’s unpacking as Sami rants about everything she’s brought as Nicole unpacks. Austin lays out the ground rules…by day the apartment is their work place and at night they’re roommates. He tells them Sami’s computer stays where it is (Nicole wants it because it’s next to Austin’s), but he gives Nicole her own laptop and points across the room (4 ft away) for her work space. Austin referees. Sami has an idea suggests they should contact someone she knows at the Spectator who could do an article on his return to Salem. He loves the idea, but Nicole tops it with tv publicity instead. He loves that idea too and they ask Sami to make coffee, which she does with clenched teeth. Later they’re working and Sami puts a cd with customer names on Nicole’s workstation and sees a printed proposal she’s finished. She gives it to Austin as her own work and he likes it, telling her good work. Nicole’s in the kitchen and comes out wanting more coffee creamer and noticing snacks that Will eats are in there, asking if he’s still living there. Sami calmly tells her no, he’s not, and reminds her they’re not suppose to talk personal business during work hours. With one ear pointed their way, Austin seconds that. She gives Austin the same proposal, asking what he thinks about it. Without looking at it, he says he loves it and asks if she has any changes to it. She says no, confused…but while Sami’s in the kitchen fetching her an apple, types a message from Will on Sami’s computer, saying Mom. I hate you and never want to see you again. Have a lousy life. Will. Sami tears up and trying to stay professional, walks out of the apartment after seeing it (just what Nicole wanted I’m sure) as Austin asks where she went. She tells Austin they need a new secretary (hey, it’s HER apartment). Austin says he’s giving them both a chance and to be nice. (the writers must be listening to their viewers about enjoying Ali/Ari's (aka Sami and Nicole's) scenes together)

TITAN
Victor welcomes Lucas to the company with his prep talk about crushing competitors when Marie (a new one?) arrives with flowers delivered for Lucas. Victor asks if they’re from Sami. Lucaslooks at the card and tells them no, they’re from Sophie, a new gal he’s met. He tells Victor about Sami and Nicole working with Austin, a lethal combination. Victor doesn’t underestimate Nicole’s business smarts and if Sami has something to prove, the two women aren’t to be reckoned with. He calls Austin’s new company a recipe for disaster. Victor admits there working conditions are lean but doesn’t discount their thirst for success and credits Austin for hiring them. Sami’s got drive and Nicole brains and talent. Don’t underestimate them. Lucas said he won’t, but they shouldn’t underestimate him either. Lucas heads home to check on the competition.

BACK AT THE APARTMENTS…
Lucas gets off the elevator to find Sami sitting in the hall crying. He softly asks her what’s wrong and she tells him she knows he doesn’t care. He tells her that’s wrong and he still loves her.

BRADY HOME
Bo and Hope chat about Chelsea. She understands he has to make up lost time with Chelsea, but he has two sons that need him too. He spent time with Shawn that day and tells her Shawn’s moving on with his life without Belle. She looks a little disappointed when she learns Shawn’s going to become a mechanic, but Bo reminds her they’re blue collar cops (when? they’re never at work) and it’s an honest living. He tells her the first money Chelsea used went to Light the Night and work clothes, and so what, she spoiled herself just like Hope did, at the spa. Hope said he missed the point…she lied to him. He tells her she doesn’t like his daughter, but she says, no, she just doesn’t know her. Jen calls and invites them to pizza and Hope accepts.

DEVERAUX HOME
Jack surfs assisted suicide sites as Jen brings him a protein shake and has researched healthy things to give him to keep him around longer. He tries to sip the shake and says he can’t do this any longer. He wants to enjoy what time he has left and wants pizza. She questions his choice of words and what they mean. She orders him to finish the shake and take the vitamins she got him…then leaves to order the pizza he’s been craving as a concession. He emails Death with Dignity asking them to contact him. Jennifer walks back in, saying she can’t believe it. He shuts the laptop after asking them to call him and asks her what she’s talking about..and of course she found an old pizza menu she found in the drawer.

Bo and Hope arrive at Jen’s and she asks Jennifer to tell her she didn’t order the pregnancy special with anchovies. Jen laughs they just kidded about that, but Jack brings up that it would kill him and the happy mood turns somber again. He goes to get the pizza at the door and Bo the beer in the kitchen. Jen gets the phone and has a hard time hearing who the caller is as Jack rushes back with the 2 pizzas, anxious to get the phone from her. The caller tells Jen they’re calling about assisting suicide and Jen looks up at Jack and says…”suicide…what is going on Jack Deveraux?”…as the previews roll…

John tells Marlena all she has to do is believe it and it will empower her to fight this amnesia.

At a Halloween party…

Philip asks Belle if she’s nervous about seeing Shawn and Mimi together..

Shawn tells Mimi he cares about her and no matter they say, it won’t change how he feels about her. He kisses her (sounds like it at least) as we see Belle and Philip walking up and seeing that.

Jack (wearing a super hero costume) faints as Jen yells, Help, somebody, Help…

Episode # 10175
Tape Date: 9/21/05
Air Date: 10/27/05
Director: Phil Sogard

Summary: Not a terribly exciting show here…Hope confronts Bo about Shawn quitting school, and also finds out he has given Chelsea more money…Max offers Shawn an opportunity…John meets with Frankie about stopping Alex…as Alex continues his spell over Marlena.

At the Brady House…After learning of Shawn quitting school from Mimi, Hope is trying to reach Shawn on the phone when Bo comes in. She jumps him about it and Bo confirms it. She is furious over the news and even madder when Bo defends his decision. She is determined to track him down and shake some sense into him. Bo snatches the phone from her and tells her that he tried to talk to Shawn but was informed that Shawn was an adult who could make his own decisions. But she says he isn’t mature enough to do that, and cites some of his recent dumb decisions. She is sure he will regret this decision for the rest of his life, she only wants what is best for him. Bo says he just doesn’t want to seem to be harping on him all the time, and reminds her that he is not a little boy any more. But Hope mutters that he will ALWAYS be HER little boy (awww). She is just sure he is making a mistake but Bo says he is an adult…it’s his life, reminding her that they are not perfect and have also made mistakes…they must have faith in him. He is sure that he will turn out okay. She tells him about running into Chelsea earlier and says he has his hands full with her. Bo wishes she weren’t so negative when it comes to Chelsea. Hope says she is trying and even invited her to dinner, but Chelsea was rude. Hope asks what happened to that job with Basic Black and asks where she got all that money. Bo tries to suggest Billie gave it to her, but Hope stops him, telling him she saw Billie there and knows she didn’t. She then sees it all over his face and realizes HE gave her money again. He admits to helping her out, but Hope is furious that she played him…AGAIN. She tells him that her daddy is just a push over. She says that Chelsea is a Paris Hilton in the making…without the hotels (LOL). But in the end, Hope does promise to try harder to get along with Chelsea…IF Bo promises to talk to Shawn again. She says together they will find a way to get him back in school (but Bo doesn’t seem so sure of that).

At the Garage…Chelsea shows up, NOT impressed with it. They are supposed to go on a date, but he says he must finish up Bo’s motorcycle first. Shawn shows up and VOILA tells Max what he needs to do to fix the bike. Max tells him he is looking for a partner who can run the place when he is gone and Shawn thinks it sounds like a dream job. Max asks about school and Shawn explains, but says that Bo knows and is okay with it. Chelsea pipes up, saying Hope will NOT be happy. She starts ragging on Hope, saying she doesn’t like her and how she had chewed her out earlier. But Shawn defends his mom and says it will all work out. Max tells Shawn that he and Chelsea have a date, so Shawn volunteers to work on his dad’s bike, giving Max a chance to examine his work. As they leave, Chelsea complains…Bo, Shawn and now Max…she is surrounded by grease monkeys. Later, they arrive at a church social type of thing (not really sure what it is). Chelsea is not impressed (she had her mind set on the Penthouse Grill). They are greeted by Amber (a former girlfriend of Max’s) and Chelsea is immediately jealous. He smoothes it over and tells Chelsea he wants to get to know her better. Amber tells everyone to select a partner and the music starts for salsa lessons. Chelsea isn’t very good and informs Max she isn’t having a good time and is going to leave. But he urges her to stay as he gives her pointers. They start again and before you know it, they are the center of attention with the spotlight on them (not bad for one lesson, lol). They finish as everyone applauds and she admits it was fun and they kiss.

Back at the garage, Shawn gets a call from Mimi as both are excited about their new jobs. She also informs him that his mom knows about him quitting school. She apologizes but Shawn doesn’t blame her, assuring her he will deal with it.

At Mickey’s Office…he tells Frankie that he has to be in court and that John is coming in and he wants Frankie to talk with him and fills him in on the case. John arrives, telling them that the divorce is not going to happen. After Mickey leaves, John and Frankie talk as John fills him in on the history of Marlena’s amnesia and how Alex North came into the picture (yawn). John voices his misgivings of hiring him and how it is a disaster, thinking Alex wants Marlena for himself. John says every time he feels they are about to break through, Alex steps in and reels her back in. He feels that Alex is behind the divorce and her asking John to move out. He also tells him that he is staying at Kate’s and is watching them. He recounts how he saw Alex sneaking into her room and says he needs help to get him away from her. Hoping to beat them to the punch, Frankie’s plan is to draft a letter to be sent to Marlena, requesting they meet with a counselor, to show that John is trying to save the marriage. That way they can have time alone. Sounds good to John and they proceed.

Meanwhile, at the Penthouse…Marlena is sitting on her bed as Alex hands her the photo album again. She begins to flip through it, asking him questions…as Alex wonders WHAT is going on. She looks at pictures, asking him WHEN they were together, she doesn’t remember…was it before Roman? He whips out the shiny gold necklace and waves it in her face, telling her something about a chalkboard from when she was a child and for her to imagine the teacher wiping it clean. He takes her out of her trance and tells her he needs her to do something that will change her future with John. Just do what he tells her and she smiles. He takes the album away and tells her she needs to focus on the future. He leads her over to the desk and tells her he has a document for her to sign which she does without question. He goes to fax it as she looks at the clock and has the flashback of John giving it to her again. She picks it up and holds it close to her chest.

Back at the office, the letter is ready as John signs it and the secretary is going to have it messengered to Marlena’s. But before she can have it done, a fax arrives from Alex (divorce papers). John is furious, saying he is not getting away with this. John and Frankie go rushing over to the penthouse. Later, Mickey returns as the secretary explains where they went. They arrive at the penthouse with John ranting in the hallway and Alex hears them. John begins pounding on the door and rushes in when Alex opens it. He is furious, saying this has to end now. They get into a huge argument just as Marlena descends the stairway to bear witness to it all. Freeze on Marlena’s face as we hear their angry voices…and the previews show…

Hope (to Bo): You have got to put your foot down before you create a monster…you know what?…maybe you already have…

Marlena (to John, with Alex standing nearby): When did you want to go out? (John): Right now. (Marlena): All right…

Sami (to Lucas): Don’t act like you care Lucas…I know you hate me. (Lucas): That’s not true…I still love you…

Jen (to Jack): Suicide?...what is going on with you Jack Deveraux?...

And the credits roll…

Wednesday, October 26, 2005

Summary: Today’s show is all about money troubles and new jobs (finally, something realistic!); except for Jack and Jen, who’s troubles are a bit more serious.

Mimi is trying to balance her money at the loft, and finds out she doesn’t have enough to pay her tuition. Rex used to help her, but now that she is doing it herself, she messed up. She tries to smash the calculator and freaks, which prompts Shawn to offer some options. Financial aid is out, as she missed the deadline. Her mom spends more than she makes, and now that Mickey isn’t paying her bills, she is in debt up to her eyeballs. Shawn offers to help her. Mimi tries to turn him down – he doesn’t make enough from Alice’s to pay parking, let alone tuition. He offers to break into his trust fund for her, but she doesn’t want him to. He admires that she wants to pick herself up and do it on her own. She is very grateful for all his help. They end kissing, but she leaves. She is off to find her second job. There is a knock, and Shawn, thinking that Mimi forgot her keys, finds a set and opens the door to Bo. Bo tells Shawn about the job offer he got him at his Uncle Max’s garage (see below). They discuss whether or not Shawn is going to return to school while working this job. Bo wants him to, but Shawn is adamant that he is not returning. Bo offers to smooth things over with Hope, whom they both agree is going to hit the roof. Shawn hits Bo up for money until the end of the month.

Mimi ends up applying for a receptionist job at the day spa. Gloria is impressed with her resume, but wants to check her references. Billie walks up and vouches for Mimi, which is good enough for Gloria. It seems that Gloria is a Countess Wilhemina customer from way back, and she and Billie had become friends over it. Mimi is hired. Gloria and Billie discuss the product line and some changes that Billie wants to make, which impress Gloria. Hope comes out to find Billie standing there and assumes she is there for Chelsea, which stuns Billie. She didn’t know Chelsea was there and doesn’t know where she got the money – it wasn’t from her, and she made her mother promise not to give her any. They talk about their joint strategy to teach Chelsea the value of money and agree that it is tough being the bad guy, but she needs guidance. Billie goes to find Chelsea, thinking about their conversation over Billie’s past. Hope runs into Mimi, who tells her about her second job and how she has to leave school for a semester in order to earn the money to pay for it. She is determined to go back to school, and Gloria, overhearing, says that her room-mate should do the same. This, of course, gets Hope attention, and she wants to know what is going on. Gloria runs away, commenting on her big mouth, and Mimi is stuck while Hope waits for an answer.

Max and Frankie are standing in a garage. Frankie is glad he invested his winnings, but did he make a wise choice? The garage is awful quiet. A motorcyclist pulls up and Max takes Frankie out to meet his first customer – Bo. Bo needed a tune-up, and Max offered. Bo is sure he won’t get the Brady rate – but he doesn’t mind Max making a profit. Frankie would like Max to have someone else for when he is out on circuit, so Bo offers Shawn’s services. Bo needs specialty parts, does he mind paying half up front, in cash? (Prompt Bo to flashback to giving the money to Chelsea.) He is flat broke, and the parts are expensive, which is why he hasn’t worked on it in a while. Max says its okay, he knows Bo is good for it, and where he lives. Frankie leaves to make a phone call in the office, and Bo tells Max they need to talk about Max’s relationship with Bo’s daughter. Apparently his reputation precedes him. Max says he already got the lecture from Frankie, but Bo doesn’t want to lecture – just warn. Max tells him that he understands, given his history (which he does touch on), and they have put the brakes on. Bo warns him not to hurt her. Frankie, however, has heard the conversation and is still worried. He knows that Max has good intentions, but he has a past history of letting things get out of control. Max loses his temper and tells Frankie that he does have control and to stop worrying about him.

Chelsea is chatting with the salon owner, who is giving her a facial. Chelsea brags about hitting the lotto, so to speak, and being able to afford pampering, whether she needs a beauty treatment or not. She gets tears in her eyes and tells Gloria about how she and her adoptive mother used to talk about going there together and having a mother-daughter day; except that her mother can’t come now. Gloria goes into full sales mode, telling Chelsea she has done the right thing – she picked herself up and is pampering herself. Everyone deserves to feel like Cinderella every now and again. Chelsea thinks Cinderella had it easy, after all, she only had one wicked stepmother type to deal with. Gloria leaves and Hope comes in. Hope tells her they didn’t get off to a good start, but would like to try again. Hope tells her that a couple years ago, they were in dire financial straits, but they only got through with prudent savings. It was the only way they could send Shawn to college. She tries to tell Chelsea to save some money, and blowing it at the spa probably won’t help her pay for college. Chelsea thinks now that Hope is saying that because she doesn’t want Chelsea’s dad to pay for her college. It’s okay for him to have a daughter, as long as he doesn’t spend Hope’s money on her, right? Hope says no, they will help if she needs it, but she needs to be careful. She brings up Abby’s pledge drive and Chelsea pledges ten dollars, but where is Hope’s donation? (She is going to write a check). Hope ends up inviting her for dinner. She says with a little effort, they can get along. Hope is just full of advice, huh? Here is some for her: just because she is married to her father, doesn’t make her safe. As long as Billie is around, she should be worried. Later, Chelsea is looking at a very expensive top that the saleslady is really trying to sell to her. Chelsea says she doesn’t have enough cash, and no credit cards. She asks if they will take a post-dated check, as she is sure her dad will cover it for her.

Jack is still trying to get Billie to promise not to tell Jen his plans. She can’t sit idly by and watch him do this to his family. He doesn’t want them to watch him die a slow, painful, withering death. They deserve better memories. He has it all worked out, and thinks he has no other choice. If she won’t help him, he will just have to disappear and do it himself. She refuses to help.

Hope is saying goodbye to Jen, reminding her to call later. Jen heads out, but stops to look at a locket with a picture of Abby and Jack inside. Hope comes outside with the scarf Jen forgot and finds her crying and tries to comfort her. Jen says she has done this before – twice – why does this have to happen to her family again? They agree to pray for a miracle and Jen vows to do a lot of research to find an answer. Jack isn’t the only one to suffer this disease, there has to be an answer. Hope goes to find Chelsea while Jen heads home.

Jen arrives home to find Billie and Jack talking and immediately gets worried that something is wrong and Jack is hiding something from her. She offers to let them talk, but Billie says she is on her way to work. It seems that busy Victor has offered her a consulting position for Countess Wilhemina. Jack walks her out and makes her promise not to tell Jen – it is a dying wish for a friend. She reluctantly agrees and leaves with tears in her eyes. Jack returns inside where Jen tells him that she stopped by the hospital to do some research and found some answers. Apparently there is some success on a special diet, complete with certain vitamins and herbs. He could see marked improvement in as little as 6-8 weeks. He is skeptical. She goes to show him on the computer, but turns to ask if he is crazy? It turns out he pulled the plug, and explains that he wanted her to listen to him first. The disease is irreversible. She wants to keep fighting, but he wants her to accept his death. She wants him to promise that he will let her be there when the time comes. They hug each other, as the previews show:

Alex: “I just need you to do what I tell you to. Could you do that?”
Marlena: “Yes.”

Frankie: “He beat us to the punch.”
John: “He sure has.”

Hope (to Bo): “I ran into Chelsea. You have your hands full with her.”

Chelsea: “Hope doesn’t know yet.”
Shawn: “She does not.”
Chelsea: “I wouldn’t want to be you when she does find out.”
(standing in Max’s garage, with Max looking on.)

and the credits roll.

Episode #: 10173
Directed by: Deveney Kelly
Tape Date: 9/22/05

Summary: Austin, Sami and Nicole all use their own manipulation techniques; Hope worries about Chelsea's materialistic needs and how she's supporting them; Jack is upset when Billie doesn't want to help him kill himself and Lucas and Maggie chat over coffee on his first day of work.

AUSTIN’S NEW BUSINESS
Lucas tells Austin his new business is doomed and he’ll be down the hall laughing as the two women destroy him. Sami and Nicole start bickering and Austin questions his wisdom of hiring them, wondering if Lucas might be right. Sami says she can work for anyone and Nicole happily reminds her she won’t be working WITH her, but FOR her, reminding Sami she doesn’t even have her high school diploma. Sami complains, but Austin backs Nicole up that she has more executive experience. The women start ranting at each other again and he stops them (with a loud whistle) and says he hired them because they both are go-getters and never give up. If they work together, not apart, they can be rich. Both gals eyes glow at that prospect as we see them at a spa getting pampered. Nicole drops a bottle of something into a bottle near Sami’s wash sink and when Sami removes her towel, her hair is lime green and she lets out a healthy scream. LOL. Sami has her own daydream…also at a spa, as she drops something red in a bowl, stirs it up (Nicole is in a chair with limes on her eyes) as the facial lady takes the goop and puts it on Nicole’s face. Nicole wakes up and the mask has hardened on her face. She also screams. Mickey calls Austin, who leaves the room after telling them to play nice together. Sami tells Nicole she lives with Austin and will have his ear 24/7. She enjoys reminding Nicole how Eric left town because of her and how Kate had to pay her five million to marry Lucas and then her history with Victor, and finally Brady. Nicole whines she loved Brady and Sami was suppose to help her get him. She tells Nicole she’ll be an old maid at 60, having Nicole even looking worried about that, when Austin returns. Sami tells Austin she and Nicole had a chat while he was on the phone and she’s agreed she can be a little more humble and can work with anyone. That’s music to Austin’s ears and Nicole agrees they’ll work for the common good and not sabotage each other. He warns them they won’t get much pay at first. Sami’s cool with that being they live together, but Nicole tells him she’s been living at the Y and needs apartment money and Victor’s making sure she doesn’t get any settlement. Austin has a crazy idea and suggests she move in with him and Sami. Sami spits out her soda at that suggestion. Nicole goes on about how much they can accomplish living together and have an edge on the competition. Sami reminds them it’s her apartment and although Austin apologizes for not consulting her about his idea first, knows how to manipulate her into agreeing by asking if she wasn’t sincere about being a team player. Nicole says she really does need a place to live. Austin hugs them both as they both stare at each other with determination in their eyes.

AT JAVA CAFÉ we find Lucas arriving in a suit and tie to meet his Aunt Maggie at for coffee before his first day at Titan. He tells her she’s his favorite lady and the only women he’s known who hasn’t ruined a single moment of his life..hey, what about Gran?) She knows there’s a special woman out there for him. Maggie gives him a present to commemorate his new job. It’s a silver sign saying BELIEVE IN YOURSELF and she wants him to put it on his desk. She knows Victor wouldn’t have hired him if he hadn’t thought he could do the job. She gives him the pep talk he needs and he’s on to her, especially being his AA sponsor. She urges him to call her if he has any thoughts of taking a drink and a little shocked when he says it would be a little easier with a glass of Scotch in his hand. Maggie orders her latte and he orders a grande cappuccino. She asks how things are with him, Sami and Will. Lucas says Sami is out of his life. Maggie asks him if there isn’t a part of him that still loves Sami? Later he tells her no. Maggie knows better. He says Will hates his mother and he’s the one who wanted his family together. She finally gets him to admit he still does love Sami, but vows he’d start drinking before getting together with her again as it would be a more pleasurable way of killing himself. Outside Lucas thanks Maggie for starting his day out so great and jokes she’s hired as his motivational consultant. (great scenes)

AT THE SPA….A replay of Hope watching Chelsea arriving and buying one of their most expensive treatment plans. She tells Jennifer what she saw and admitting being concerned where the cash came from and not liking her new stepdaughter very much from what she’s seeing of her. She knows how much that package cost and knows she had just spent more than that recently on clothes she needed. Hope knows it didn’t come from Bo (uh oh) as he agrees with her that. Jennifer wonders if Chelsea knew how the rest of the world lived it might have an impact on her. Hope said she doesn’t think Chelsea would give a damn. She wishes Chelsea were more like Abby, not as concerned about material things. She remembered how just last week Abby was collecting money for Light the Night Walk. Jen proudly tells Hope how Abby’s saved change in a jar for Africa and will send it to Jen’s dad (Bill) for Christmas for medicine. Hope knows Chelsea will play Billie and Bo against each other. Jen just wishes this was over for Hope’s sake and Hope smiles, saying…from your mouth to God’s ears.

As Chelsea enjoys having her custom color pedicure and facial, she remembers how easy it was to get $250 from Bo and tells herself she’ll never run out of money (if Bo doesn’t work someday, it might be) Later she’s getting her nails done (Hope and Jen are still gabbing in the lobby) and asks if she can buy a tube of the mask she used for her facial. The therapist said it’s $50 a tube, but Chelsea just smiles and says she’ll take one. Later she wants the same color as Misha (?) is wearing and doesn’t ask, but orders the therapist to go look it up in a magazine.

Chelsea tips the therapists generously and they both invite her to come back. Jen wants to return home to Jack, but Hope says she’s going to wait and talk with Chelsea before leaving. Jennifer warns her not to make it hard for Bo to be in the middle and Hope agrees she won’t.

JACK AND BILLIE
Jack tells Billie he’s taking control of when and where he dies. Billie tries to convince him how wrong that is and he’s robbing his family of hope. Billie’s disappointed that her best pal would turn out to be such a coward. He resents that and still figures it would be best for his wife and children. Billie’s ISA experience can help him as he can’t do it on his own. He tells her it’s HIS life and decision. She tells him it’s HER life and decision and she refuses to help him kill himself. He continues his sales pitch as she listens with tears in her eyes. She urges him to hang in there as a cure might be found. He tries to focus on positive things like not paying for his daughter’s wedding, dying before his children do, and that Jennifer can remarry. He loves her and wants her to be happy. He vows to kill himself, with or without her help. Billie says without her as she refuses to do something she doesn’t want to do. Jack says there’s only one person who can talk him out of doing this and Billie grabs the idea to call that person. Jack takes the phone out of her hand, warning her not to tell Jennifer about his plan. He reminds her she promised not to say anything and she said that was before she knew what he had planned and will break her word for his and Jennifer’s own good as the screen freezes on their determined faces.

PREVIEWS

Bo tells Max: “because if anyone hurts my daughter, they’ll have to deal with me”.

Chelsea to Hope: “as long as my mother Billie’s around, you better watch your back.”

Jack to Billie: “if you won’t help me, I won’t have any choice but to disappear.”

Jennifer looks up at Jack and says: “oh my gosh, have you lost your mind?”

Episode # 10172
Tape Date: 9/21/05
Air Date: 10/24/05
Director: Phil Sogard

Summary: Austin hires Sami to work for him, much to her delight…but her joy is short lived as Lucas laughs at her and Austin hires yet another employee…Chelsea charms (manipulates) Bo out of more money…Hope and Jen spend a day at the spa…as Jack makes big plans….a VIP visits Salem as Nicole gets “trumped”.

At Brady House…Chelsea shows up as Bo is busy cleaning up Zack’s toys. She cries as she is upset over the news of Abby’s dad dying and wishes she could do something to help. Bo says she is doing a lot just by being Abby’s friend. She starts complaining about Hope and how she thinks she is a brat. But Bo takes up for Hope, saying she just wants the best for her. He starts in on her and Patrick but Chelsea goes on and on about how great he is. Billie and Hope both think she is a loser but Patrick doesn’t judge her. She says she can go to him for anything…such as advice, or comfort or MONEY. Well, Bo is uncomfortable with this, forbidding her to take money from him. He asks her what happened to the money HE gave her and she informs him it is all gone. She starts explaining that she gave some to the Light the Night walk and of course she needed girls “under-thingies”. Bo is very uncomfortable with this talk as she talks about how expensive it is to be a girl. (LOL) He whips out his wallet (guess he just visited the Salem money tree) and gives her another $250 and she promises to be careful with it and spend it wisely. She asks him to keep this a secret from Billie…just as she walks in, asking WHAT secret? Chelsea accuses Billie of following her as Billie asks what just happened here. Bo says it is no big deal and Chelsea leaves. Bo explains to Billie that she was upset over Jack’s situation and Billie wishes she would have talked to HER about it. Billie whines that Chelsea is just upset because she refuses to spoil her but Bo thinks that Billie should trust her more. He says he doesn’t want her to go to Lockhart for anything, because he fears that eventually, he will want something in return. Billie assures Bo that Patrick isn’t interested in Chelsea, because he is hitting on HER. Bo calls him a creep and Billie says for him not to worry, she can take care of herself. Bo says if Billie is wrong…Chelsea will suffer.

At the Deveraux House…Hope is there as Jen goes on about how the stress is getting to her. Hope wants to get her away for a few hours and go to the spa…her treat. Jen doesn’t want to leave Jack (as he overhears). To himself, he thinks he needs to get her out of the house for a while, he has something important he needs to do. Hope and Jack together convince Jen that she needs this and Jen finally concedes (as Hope winks at Jack and thanks him). As Jen goes to get her things, he thanks Hope and tries to give her money to cover the expense, but she refuses…it’s a gift from her and Bo. He thanks Hope for her love and support and she reminds him that the Horton women stick together.

Later they are at the spa and are presented with a price list. Jen is in shock at how expensive it is and says maybe she will only get a massage, she can’t let Hope spend that much on her, but Hope convinces her to stay. She tells Hope that she got the feeling that Jack is up to something. As they go to change, Chelsea comes breezing in and informs the lady she wants the works. She whips out the cash to pay as Hope walks by and sees this. Jen is looking in a mirror saying she will never leave Jack again. She begs for him to hang on…for a miracle. She says anything is possible, as long as he is alive.

After the girls are gone…Jack is at the computer and says this is it…the way to go….just as long as Jen doesn’t find out. He says it won’t be easy and he needs some help. So he calls Billie, who is now outside the Brady house and tells her to rush over, it is a matter of life and death.

At the apartment building…Sami is excited that Austin is going to hire her and he cautions her they will give it a TRY. He tells her to slow down, he has a few ground rules. During work hours HE is the boss, after work hours, they go back to being friends and room mates. She assures him she doesn’t have a problem with that, she is a professional (rolling eyes here). She is okay with everything and he tells her that he needs to go see Mickey for paper work. She wants to tag along, but he tells her there will be plenty to do later. As he leaves, she is thrilled, saying her luck is about to change.

At Lucas’ you can hear Mick Jagger wailing “Streets of Love” in the background as Lucas (clad in a towel) is drying off from his shower. Sophie whistles as he gives that “oh shucks” look and blushes. They talk about Sami and she asks him why Sami doesn’t work. He says with her track record, no one would hire her. She thanks Lucas for letting her stay as they say their goodbyes. They end up kissing in the hallway…and (of course) Sami is watching.

After Sophie leaves, Sami gloats to Lucas in the hall about having a new job. Lucas asks WHO would ever hire her and she tells him Austin. Well, Lucas is shocked and upset over this tidbit and says he just made a huge mistake as they start to argue. She is crying about how everyone turned their backs on her but Austin and now she can repay him as Lucas laughs in her face. She is NOT amused as he tells her he is sure that they will be at each others’ throats soon. He tells her he overheard her threatening Nicole and asks what Sami has on her. She says she has enough. He warns her to leave Nicole alone. Sami says he must have a thing for cheap floozies and starts in on Sophie and Lucas takes up for her. Sami thinks that Will would be better off with his mother and Lucas reminds her he doesn’t WANT her and she has no one to blame but herself.

Mickey’s Law Office…(is ONE busy place today) as Nicole shows up for an appointment. She is informed that Mickey has a VIP coming and someone else is handling her case. Nicole’s jaw hits the floor as Donald Trump strolls in. She rushes over and begins fawning all over him. She tells him that she was married to Victor Kiriakis but is now back on the market. He tells her that he is happily married and has all the “apprentices” he needs as he quickly dismisses her. He tells her that maybe he can set her up with Martha (LOL). As he disappears into Mickey’s office, Frankie arrives (with a new GI haircut) telling Nicole he is handling her case and he doesn’t have good news. Later, Trump is leaving as Mickey thanks him for his generous donation to the Horton Foundation. The Donald congratulates him on all the good work they have done and on their 40th anniversary. Trump talks about how wonderful Salem is as Mickey jokes and says they have quite a cast of characters and should start their own reality show. Trump thinks about it and tells him they are more suited for a soap opera. (Touché!) Nicole rushes over and starts on him again, offering to send her resume. He tells her he will be in touch. She asks “really?” and he says NO as he leaves. Nicole and Frankie go into an office as she is NOT happy about Frankie handling her case. He tells her that Victor wants to settle with a minimal payoff…no alimony and no access to the estate, which infuriates her…she wants more. Frankie tells her she is dreaming. She is ranting about all she did at Titan as Austin walks in siding with her, saying she did great work at Titan and he was impressed as Mickey introduces Frankie and Austin. Austin tells Nicole he wants to talk to her. In the lobby he tells her about his new company and says he needs her help…and he has a proposition for her.

Back in the office, Mickey thanks Frankie for helping him out with his case load and they talk about Jack and Jen’s situation. Frankie wants to help them out as much as possible. Mickey laughs and says that at one time he and Maggie were sure that he and Jen were going to get married. Frankie tells Mickey he has promised Jack that he will be there for Jen. They talk about Nicole’s divorce and Mickey says he hopes she can pick up the pieces and move on. Frankie hopes that Jen can do the same.

Austin returns to Sami’s and informs her that he took care of all the legal paperwork and even hired an executive vice president…someone that Sami will report to. She is okay with that, just happy to have a job and asks WHO her new boss is…as Nicole walks in. Lucas walks up with a smirk on his face and says “this CAN’T miss!”

Back at the Deveraux House…Billie rushes over asking what is wrong as Jack tells her he needs her help…BUT she must keep it a secret and tell no one. She begs him not to do this to her again, it was hell keeping his other secret from Jen. But she finally agrees to go along with him, as she can’t turn her back on him. He begs her again to never tell anyone and she agrees. He tells her he needs her to help him commit suicide…as the previews show…

Jack (to Billie) What are you doing? (Billie): I am calling the one person who can talk you out of this…

Jen (to Hope): She will run straight to Bo…and that will put him in a tough spot. (Hope): I just want to make sure she isn’t taking advantage of her father…

Maggie (to Lucas): Are you SURE you are over SAmi?...Isn’t there a part of you that is still in love with her?...

Nicole (to Austin): I have to have a place to live…(Austin): Why don’t you move in with Sami and me?...as Sami spits out her drink…

And the credits roll…

Episode: 10171
Directed by: Roger Inman
Tape Date: 9/20/2005

It’s a new day in Salem…..and our Salemites are starting their morning off with chats with family. Chelsea and Billie’s never ending mother/daughter bickering continues, Jack with Jen and Abby about his illness, Bo and Hope about Chelsea; Sami and Austin plan a new venture together and Lucas with Sophie.

AT THE LOCKHART HOME (just where is Bonnie, Conner and Max living?) we find Chelsea and Billie bickering already. Billie’s not happy about the money Chelsea’s spending and asks where it came from. She’s also not happy about the pj’s Chelsea’s wearing considering they live with Patrick. Patrick walks in and Chelsea complains about Bo picking a fight with him the night before. Billie asks Chelsea what she’s done to upset her father. Bicker bicker bicker as Chelsea rants at Billie that she’s never felt connected to her and is only making her life miserable. Chelsea calls Kate, knowing which buttons to push as she tells Kate she has a hard time calling her grandma as she looks too young and beautiful to call her that. Kate admits flattery will get her anywhere, LOL, and promises to be right over when Chelsea asks for her help. Billie walks in asking who Chelsea was talking to, saying she was more curious than nosey (yeah, right) as Chelsea blasts her for that. Chelsea admits wanting to go to BB with Grandma Kate and needs an advance from her salary to get work type clothes. Billie asks why she just didn’t ask her for it (yup, the bottomless well for the unemployed), but Chelsea fires back she knows she’d have to pay Billie back and never hear the end of it. Later Chelsea is dressed in a halter type dress and long earrings that Billie figures will be great for work (not where I work it wouldn’t, but maybe at BB, haha). More bickering (it’s getting so old) between Billie and Chelsea as Chelsea says they’re so different and she doesn’t want to wear the same thing over and over and look like her mother, yada yada, and throwing Billie’s past in her face. She does look a little guilty as Billie states she didn’t confide her past with her only to have it thrown in her face. Kate arrives and Billie asks for a few minutes alone with her first. She asks Kate not to spoil Chelsea anymore with gifts and money. Chelsea eavesdrops from the kitchen, not happy to hear that. Billie tells Kate she gave her daughter cash and a job, so no more for a while. Chelsea goes out back and rants to Patrick about what Billie said. He agrees Billie was right and Chelsea heads out the gate.

Inside Billie and Kate chat more. Billie tells Kate to let t hem live their own lives and let her raise her own daughter.

AT THE BRADY HOME…Hope gives young Zack to the count of three to get into the kitchen and finish his cereal. He knows how far to push the envelope as mom is squatting down to his level and serious. Bo walks in as Zack goes into the kitchen and says not to take her anger out on anyone but him. Hope responds that the only one in the house with an anger management problem is him. Hope calmly tells Bo he’d rather argue with Patrick that listen to his wife. Flashback of what happened the night before as Hope joined Patrick and Bo arguing. Hope warns him that he’ll push Chelsea right into Patrick’s arms if he keeps this attitude up. Later the two bring their morning brew into the living room as Hope rationalizes that Chelsea didn’t yell for his help from Patrick, but that Chelsea had probably been comforting Abby about Jack’s fatal illness and was upset about that. Patrick was only consoling her. Hope acknowledges that she now realizes that his daughter does have a soft side and straddles his outstretched legs to kiss him. Hope tells Bo she wants to do something special for Jennifer, but it’ll affect their budget. Bo’s not surprised, saying it’s only money and she already knows what she wants to do. Later we hear Hope's blocked four hours somewhere for her and Jennifer (spa?) when Bo returns home. He says Zack caught the bus on time (reality, love it) and gives her a box with something he made for her. She opens it to find a small blue sailboat (with Fancy Face 3 on it) to always remind her of the life’s journey they’re on together. He made it while she slept at night. Awww. They fall to the couch as she admits not having to leave just yet and Zack is in school….we find them later under a blanket ;-) as Hope tells Bo how thankful they must be for having a future to look forward to. He comments how fast life is going by and he’s lost 18 years with Chelsea and needs to make up for her lost childhood with her. Hope tells him to just be there for her now. He agrees and they snuggle on the couch.

KATE CALLS Lucas’ apartment and Sophie answers, wearing just a towel. She hands the phone to Lucas after identifying herself when asked. Kate congratulates Lucas for moving on from Sami at that news. Lucas fires back that nothing’s going on and gives Kate what she deserves. He’s angry she stopped him from being happy and with Sami and Will right now and for her to stay out of his life. She wishes him luck with his new job before he hangs up. Later Sophie comes out after her shower, still in her towel. She thanks him for the sleepover and he’s just glad it worked out for Will being gone and the room available. Sophie tells him she heard him talking about Sami in his sleep (from the next room, LOL??) as the Stone’s STREETS OF LOVE plays in the background. He tells Sophie he knows he and Sami will never have a future together (ah, that means they will in Salemese ;-)

AT SAMI’S apartment, Austin is looking at ads for an apartment in Salem. Sami tells him that he’s welcome to stay there with her (and just how is HER rent being paid without a job?) She tells him she’s having a hard time without a job (hallelujah) and could use his help. He doesn’t want people to get the wrong idea about them, but realizes his future is in Salem. He realized when he came back to Salem for her wedding that life is too short and to go for what you want, then apologizes for reminding her about the wedding. He’s starting his own company and will base it out of Salem. She suggests she needs a job and can work for him. He doesn’t think it would work considering their history. She tells him no one else will hire her, especially after the latest ordeal with Stan. He says it might not do well for his business either and she understands…but he says he’s kidding. He’s concerned about what Lucas would think/say about it. She says she has to move on with her life and doesn't care. She thinks he could live there and they could start the business in her apartment and when it gets established and making money, get a location downtown. He agrees and she hugs him.

AT THE DEVERAUX HOME…we find Jack and Jen asleep in their bed as Abby walks in wearing her robe and pjs. Jen wakes up and walks softly to their daughter. Jack’s wakens as well, but pretends to sleep as Abby admits to Jen she wanted to make sure Dad was okay and hadn’t died over night. Abby says she came in 4x during the night to listen to Jack’s breathing and asks her mother what they’ll do without Daddy. She apologizes for how she acted when she thought they had lost Jack before and will be there for her and little Jack this time. Jen and Abby hug as Jack, now crying, sits up and apologizes for not telling her earlier about his illness. She wants to make him breakfast if he’s hungry. Jack is touched and said he’d eat anything she made. She knows Grandma Horton was right that if it’s made from love, it will be good. Abby leaves to get her brother and will meet them downstairs. Jack wipes away tears and tells Jen how strong Horton women are. She asks what they’re going to do without him. He tells her he’s got it all figured out. Later he denies any “plan”, just that he’ll be looking over the three of them forever. She goes to help Abby with breakfast. Jack tells himself he’s sorry, but going to leave her a little sooner than expected. Jen joins Abby while she’s making chocolate chip pancakes, Jack's favorite. Jack joins them and excuses himself to go play with Jack Jr. until breakfast is ready. Abby’s got the Salem brain today as she reminds Jen that Lexie is a good doctor, but not a specialist in whatever Jack’s got. Jen says that Lexie got lots of second opinions, but they have to keep Jack alive until they can find a cure and miracles do happen (boy howdy, in Salem they sure do especially). Jack overhears from the doorway and walks in asking Abby not to get her hopes up too high..he doesn’t think they’ll find a cure in time. She rushes into his arms to hug him, crying, and Jennifer joins them for a sandwich hug..freeze frame as the previews roll…

Chelsea asks Bo if he can keep a little secret that she doesn’t want Billie to know. Billie (always on the spot) walks in asking what that is.

Sophie tells Lucas he has her number and can always call her. Sami sees Lucas kissing Sophie.

At the spa (knew it) Hope asks Jennifer why she thinks Jack’s up to something. Jennifer knows that Jack will try to find some way to try and soften the blow.

Nicole runs into Donald Trump and says…you’re the Donald. He replies “yes”.

As the credits roll…

Episode # 10170
Tape Date: 9/19/05
Air Date: 10/20/05
Director: Albert Alarr

Summary: Abby and Chelsea go missing as their parents worry about them…the evil Dr. North continues his brainwashing of Marlena…as John decides to take drastic measures.

At the Deveraux House…Bo and Hope arrive (they must have called them) to find Jen a nervous wreck. Abby is missing and they have not heard from her. They say that doesn’t sound like Abby, but Jack says it is because of something he said…that he is dying. As Bo and Hope stand there in shock, he explains about his mysterious illness (he explains the odds of getting it is one in 10 million) and how it is terminal. Hope consoles Jen as Bo asks Jack if there is anything he can do. Jack says in fact there is. Jen explains to Hope that Jack didn’t tell them because he didn’t want to worry them but fears that it is too much for Abby to handle. Jack tells Bo he wants him to promise to look out for his family…he is afraid someone may try to take advantage of them…namely Patrick Lockhart. Hope and Jen ask Bo to go look for Abby and Jack wants to go along. They try to talk him out of it, but he is determined, saying it is something he NEEDS to do. Hope stays with Jen to wait in case Abby returns. As they leave, Jen breaks down, asking WHY is God punishing them. Hope does her best to comfort her and promises she will get through this and she will be there for her, no matter what.

At the Lockhart House…Billie is pacing the floor, worried about Chelsea, having not heard from her and Billie has left 6 messages on her cell phone. Patrick tries to calm her down and is sure that she is somewhere with Abby and they lost track of time. He offers to wait with her and goes to make some coffee. Billie riffles through his albums and puts on some soul. She slowly dances alone as Patrick comes back and dances with her. They talk about the music and how both of them are soul music fans. She thanks him, saying she needed to relax. As he holds her, he tells her how smart, funny, beautiful and sexy she is. She thanks him for always being there for her and they kiss. The phone rings, it’s Jen looking for Abby. Now, Billie is concerned, for she was hoping that Chelsea was at their house. Billie senses something is wrong and wants to go look for them, but Patrick tells her to stay there, he will go. After he leaves, Bo shows up and tells her that Abby is missing. He tells her about Jack’s dilemma (as Billie doesn’t bat an eye…but then she already knows doesn’t she?). She tells him that Patrick is out looking for them which angers Bo and he rushes off…as Billie makes (not so) lucky call #7 to Chelsea’s phone.

Down at the Docks…Chelsea is trying to comfort Abby in her own way. She tells her that she is lucky that she isn’t losing her parents like she did. This upsets Abby even more and Chelsea apologizes and tries to explain. She says at least she has the time to spend with her dad before hand. She says she would give anything to have her parents back as they hug. Abby thinks Chelsea may be right, she should spend as much time with her dad as she can. Chelsea tells her that when her parents died, she tried to remember the last conversation she had with them or remember the last time she told them that she loved them but couldn’t and wishes she had those memories to hold on to. Abby fears that every time could be the last. Chelsea promises to help her through this and offers to take her home. Abby thanks her but opts to walk home. After she leaves, Patrick finds Chelsea alone and crying, telling him what is going on and how upset she is and misses her parents. He holds her and lets her cry as Bo walks up, telling him to get his hands off his daughter. Meanwhile, Jack finds Abby as she hugs him, crying on his shoulder. He tells her that he has known for a couple of months now, but just couldn’t tell them. She is upset that he kept this news from her and asks her why he insists on treating her like a baby. She tells him that she can’t deal with this and runs off.

At the Penthouse…Alex tells Marlena it’s time to erase all memories of John as he turns on the creepy music and hands her a brandy. He tells her that after tonight, it will be like John Black never existed. The only man she will ever love will be him. At Kate’s place, John is watching them and complains to Kate, sure that Marlena was making a break through. He says every time it is like North flips a switch and she regresses. He is SURE that North is controlling her and he needs to get her away from him. Kate points out that he doesn’t have many options left and John says he has one…he can kidnap her. Kate discourages him, saying that he could get arrested and could lose Marlena forever in the process. Alex puts Marlena under and tells her to listen to only him. He tells her he will count to 10 and she will have no memories of John and she says she understands. John tells Kate that he is out of options and he feels that either way, he could lose Marlena for ever. Alex begins to count as she looks at him but sees John instead. She looks at the clock and has flashbacks of John giving it to her and telling her that every time she hears it chime, she will remember how much he loves her…as the clock chimes. Alex reaches 10 and hands her the brandy to toast a productive session as she continues to stare at the clock. Alex asks her what’s wrong but she says she is just tired and ready to go to bed. She tells him goodnight and heads on up. He tells himself that there is nothing to worry about…it all went like clockwork and is proud of himself as he walks out on the balcony, holds up his glass and looks in John’s direction, toasting. John worries about Marlena and thinks that now is the time to make his move as Kate continues to try to talk him out of it. But John is determined, saying he is out of options. Marlena is now upstairs, holding the clock, staring at it, having a flash back of John. She remembers John telling her to lock the door and she does. Alex comes to the door and knocks as she hides the clock in a drawer and lets him in. He pulls out a photo album to show her pictures from a long time ago…when they were lovers, surprising her. He tells her she swore that he was the only one she would ever love. John sees the bedroom light on and worries that Alex is in there with her and threatens to kill him. Alex tries to convince Marlena how happy they once were, but she is still skeptical and wants more information. She asks when were the pictures taken but he tells her she needs to rest and encourages her to go to bed. He tells her that she will remember it all and when she does, it will be perfectly clear to her which man she wants to spend the rest of her life with…as the previews show…

Jen: What are you planning Jack?...

Sophie: I heard you talking in your sleep…Lucas: What was I talking about?...Sophie: Sami

Sami: Austin…I could work for you!...

Bo: How can I make up for not being there for her childhood?...Hope: You can change her future despite being there…by just loving her Bo….

And the credits roll…

Episode #10,169
Tape date – 9/16
Director – Phil Sogard

Lucas & Sophie go out after work, Shawn & Belle have a serious discussion on the roof, while John attempts to get Marlena away from Dr. North’s influence.

UP ON THE ROOF, Belle is looking at the CDs, when Shawn comes out. He is surprised to see her there, then realizes she is very upset. He tries to leave to go get Philip, but she stops him, saying she doesn’t want Philip, she wants him. She cries most of the time, as Shawn gives her a pep talk, but it doesn’t help. He tries to make her realize this is all just the post partum depression and that it will end. Belle says her life is so complicated now, and she wishes it was simpler like it was when she & Shawn were together. He talks about how they have both moved on, and she pressures him to talk about Mimi, but he avoids that pitfall. They talk a bit about the past but both have different lives now. Shawn holds a crying Belle.

AFTER CLOSING AT ALICE’S, Lucas chats it up with a very flirtatious Sophie. She asks him out to celebrate his new job at Titan, suggesting Cheatin’ Heart or the bar at Chez Rouge. He declines those spots, mentioning he is a recovering alcoholic, and the bartending tonight was hard enough. He suggests going for coffee at Java Café and perhaps a walk down to the pier. Later, they are at the pier, laughing at how they practically felt like senior citizens at the Java Café. Sophie says it evidently is quite the teen scene at night. (what the heck, it used to be dot.com…lol) They chat a bit, and the next time we see them, is in the hallway to Lucas’s apt. It seems Sophie’s landlady called her to say there was a pipe break up on the 6th floor, and water damage all the way down to her 3rd floor apt., so Lucas invited her to crash at his place. Seems Will is spending the night at a friend’s house. (oh, how convenient, huh?) They go in, and it doesn’t take long before she says she is now going to keep her promise, and make him forget all about Sami!

AT THE PENTHOUSE, John faces off with Alex, accusing him of climbing in through Marlena’s window. Alex, who is in his P.J.s (the man changes clothes quickly, huh?) emphatically denies this, going on and on while Marlena stands there just watching them both Alex insists that John leave, causing John to try and take a swing at him. Austin & Roman stop him. John says he saw Alex creeping along the ledge and going into Marlena's room. Alex denies, but John says he saw him through his field glasses, causing Alex to have a fit about John spying on them. Roman now says he wants to hear what Marlena has to say. Alex & John argue some more, with Alex mentioning divorce. Sami immediately perks up at that bit of news, telling Marlena that is the right thing to do, and telling her dad to get rid of John & Alex, and he can then get Marlena’s memory back. Roman stops her, saying she is not helping and to be quiet, but Sami just blathers on, as usual. Roman tells Austin to take her home, causing Kate to offer to get her a cab. LOL. Austin hustles Sami out, Kate follows them, not wanting Austin to go with Sami, but she is too late as the elevator door closes on them. She tells herself she will not let Sami get her hooks into Austin again. (If ever anyone deserves the “Mommy Dearest” title, it is Kate, for sure)

AT HOME, Sami rants about John, and raves about her mom divorcing him. Austin is puzzled, and asks Sami if she did not notice that Dr. North was entirely too territorial with her mother. Sami replies, well, maybe, but if he helps her realize she should divorce John, then great. Enter Kate (these people just never shut their doors, do they, lol) who clues Sami in on the truth. Alex has an agenda, and is busy erasing the few memories that Marlena has, and when he gets done with her, she won’t want either John, or Sami or Sami’s father, Roman. Sami is disbelieving, and goes on a roll, taunting Kate, who then slaps her across the face. Sami turns to Austin, who tells her she went over board, and Sami rushes out, going to see her son, Will. While she is gone, Kate goes into her “stay away from Sami” mantra, she & Austin argue, but he firmly tells her to mind her own business. LOL

Sami pounds on Lucas’s door, as we hear the Stones “Streets of Love” playing. Lucas opens the door, no shirt on, comes out in the hall asking what she is doing there. She demands to see Will, Lucas says she can’t, that Will is upset with her and it is better for him if she stays away. She insists, and he finally tells her that Will is not there, is sleeping over at Arthur’s place. Sami asks why he did not just say so, then asks why Lucas is acting so weird, and finally the light bulb goes on, and she says, oh, my gosh, you have a woman in there. Lucas backs into his apt, saying good night, Sami, and we hear Sophie call his name. Sami gets a glimpse of her as Lucas shuts the door, and as she bursts into tears, Austin comes out to console her.

Back inside the penthouse, Alex threatens to get a restraining order on John, finally accusing him of having been an abusive husband, and that is why Marlena does not want to remember him. John then talks to Marlena, reminding her of their vows, of their love, of all they have meant to each other. How she helped him when he first came to Salem, and had no memory of his life. As he talks, she has all these flashes of them together, kissing, in a shower, getting married, etc. Her face changes as she admits that what he says is true, she believes him. This, of course, causes Alex to get between them, flashing that necklace he has hidden in his hand at Marlena. She does that slight brushing of cheek towards her hair gesture, which means she is back in the trance again. Alex once more goes on and on about his patient, and insists they leave. John wants to talk to Marlena in private, but Marlena refuses. Roman convinces John they should leave, and he reluctantly does so. Alex now dangles the necklace in front of Marlena, saying, “That was a close call. For a moment there, I was afraid I’d lost you. That’s why it’s important we destroy the few memories you have of John Black. This time, for good". And the previews roll….

Bo: That doesn’t sound like Abby
Hope: Why is she so upset

Jack: Something I said
Hope: what did you say
Jack: that I was dying

Kate to John: That doesn’t leave you very many options now, does it?
John: I could kidnap her.

Patrick to Billie: That & the fact that you are smart, beautiful & extremely sexy

Alex to Marlena: Not only were we lovers, but you swore I was the only man you would ever love

EPISODE: 10168
DIRECTED BY: Roger Inman
TAPE DATE: 9/15/05

SUMMARY: Philip takes control of soothing Belle and Claire; Shawn and Mimi watch the new Rolling Stones video; Bonnie finds the way to Roman's heart (his stomach); and John rushes to the Penthouse.

THE LOFTS….
Shawn and Mimi finish their sad movie and while flicking through the channels they see the Stones are on. She remembers Patrick taking her to their concert on her 16th birthday and it was the first concert she’d ever been to. Mimi raves how good the concert was and kids that Belle probably went to see the Backstreet Boys. The premiere video of the Rolling Stones singing STREETS OF LOVE is played in it’s entirety. (being a teen of the 60’s, I loved it..even if my true allegiance was to the Beatles..which I always argued to my parents were NOT an overnight group and would last a long time…guess who won ;-)…sorry I digress, ha!) The video is about a guy mourning the loss of his love and walking the streets. After the video is over, Mimi is crying and Shawn tells her she will be happy again one day and deserves to be. He tells her she’s a good person and she knows that’s the kiss of death…meaning she’s not “hot”. She asks if he ever looked at her at school and thought that of her, which he can’t admit thinking..but tells her they aren’t in school any more.

Across the hall Philip stops Belle in the middle of their heavy kissing, saying he can’t. He reminds her what the doctor said about making love and she breaks down feeling totally unsecure. He calmly reassures her as she cries how things will never be the same (good grief..it’s only her first night home, isn’t it?). Philip explains so many things have happened in her life lately. Claire starts crying and Philip picks her up and talks to her, calling her sweet pea (awww). He offers to feed Claire with some of the milk Belle expressed when Belle wants to feed her. He wants her to go upstairs and get some sleep and they’ll get a nanny the next day to help her. He says he’s got to go back to work soon and she’ll have plenty of time with the baby then (where’s he going to work? Is he still in the Marines?) Belle goes upstairs, feeling a little rejected I think as Philip coos and smiles with their baby. Later Philip feeds Claire, glad to have a moment alone with her. He tells her he loved her from the moment he saw her (aww) and how they’re the luckiest people on earth to have Belle as her mommy and his wife. Upstairs Belle dreams about kissing Shawn and wakes up in a sweat. She sits on the edge of the bed.

Shawn tells Mimi that it’s strange hearing a baby across the hall, especially knowing it’s Belle’s and Philip’s. It doesn’t matter how he feels about Belle, he realizes things have changed and he has to accept it. Mimi says that Rex was her first love and she has to keep an open mind that she’ll have a second one too. He kisses her cheek and hugs her in support. Later she falls asleep on his shoulder and he lies her on the couch and covers her with an afghan and tells her that maybe they’ll end up together one day. He heads up to the roof and finds Belle there in her robe. She looks at him with tears in her eyes, about to break down again (tiz your night for crying women Shawn).

Across the hall, Philip is walking Claire, singing Rock a Bye baby to her. He just realized what the words were and apologizes to her, saying he’ll always be there to catch her if she falls and kisses her forehead.

THE RIB EATERS…
Bonnie and Roman are sucking down some bones and Roman raves over how good they are. Bonnie claims it’s probably the company he’s sharing them with that helps and compares the food to the fancy stuff Maggie served at Tuscany. Roman promises to come back for more and Bonnie tempts him with some shoo fly pie* for dessert. He refuses to keep his girlish figures and she flirts with him openly. She goes to get him something and looks back to see he’s watching her walk away and calls him on it, happily.

Sami yanks Nicole away from the pool table and threatens what she’ll do to her. Nicole’s not worried and returns to play pool with Austin. Just as Nicole’s about to pocket her winning ball, Sami coughs loudly and the ball misses the pocket. Sami enjoys Nicole’s defeat and tells Austin he’s coming home with her tonight then. Austin grins and says maybe not and goes off to get another beer. The two gals (who play off each other great, always enjoy their scenes) bicker as Nicole reminds Sami how she was just suppose to marry Lucas. Sami boasts she’s not a professional victim and bounces back. Nicole jokes about her being a bouncing clown and flops around like a punching bag mimicking her, LOL.

The new waitress, Sophie, orders some drinks and calls Lucas on his watching his two ex’. He denies it and when she suggests he look at her instead, tells her he’s not interested in getting serious again. She taunts him to let him know she wasn’t talking getting serious and walks away. Later she compliments him and he sucks it up like a sponge, saying the previous women in his life only concentrated on themselves.

AT KATE’S SUITE…
John’s not hungry and stares out the window, worried about Marlena. Kate reassures him that he made sure Marlena’s safely locked into her room for the night, but he’s not convinced.

We see Alex lurking outside Marlena’s bedroom window. John looks through his binoculars and sees someone outside Marlena’s bedroom balcony door. Kate looks and doesn’t see anyone (Alex has gone inside) and John questions whether he saw anyone or was it the fog? Alex tells himself that now that he’s inside, Marlena belongs to him. John speculates his eyes might have been playing tricks on him, but if Alex is in Marlena’s bedroom, he’s a dead man (our Salemites do like to say that, don’t they?)

BACK AT ALICE’S
Roman’s at the bar to get some coffee to go with his pie (which Lucas declares is the best pie he’s ever eaten) and gets a call on his cell. He steps away from the bar to take the call…it’s Kate. She asks him not to hang up and tells him John went over to the penthouse. He asks his usual “what the hell happened” and she gives him the heads up about John heading to the penthouse and threatening to kill Alex. He tells her he’s heading over to the penthouse and then returns to the bar. Bonnie gives Roman a forkful of the pie as he apologizes he has to leave and he promises to come back for the whole piece sometime and rushes out. Sami asks them where her dad went. Lucas tells Sami that Roman has his own life and doesn’t have to report to her. Sami quietly asks him not to lecture her and he reports that Roman went to the penthouse, something about John (I rewound the tape and Roman only said the “penthouse” out loud and that was when he was away from the bar talking to Kate, he never said John’s name, LOL) Sami rushes out the door saying John’s crazy, much to Nicole’s delight as now she has Austin to herself. Austin joins her and asks where Sami went. Lucas overhears and tells him she ran after her daddy (c’mon Lucas, you love Sami and must be a little concerned?), so Austin rushes out after Sami, bidding goodbye to Lucas and saying for him not to work too hard and telling Nicole to enjoy her dinner, but he can’t join her. Lucas smirks at Nicole, who tells him not to say what he’s dying to. The new waitress comments Nicole needs an anger management class and he smiles at her in response, agreeing.

AT THE PENTHOUSE…
Alex is softly giving Marlena her mantra…Alex is the only man you trust and should be with. She opens her eyes in a trance, saying she understands. Later he tells her she won’t remember he was there, just what he told her to say. She says she does remember both that he was there and what he said..and when John starts rattling the door, asks if someone is there to see her. Nervously Alex stares at the bedroom door. Outside John is about to kick the door in (lock’s changed?) when Roman arrives and Kate’s in his wake. Roman learns from John that Marlena kicked him out and threatens to arrest John if he breaks in. John tells Roman how Alex is brainwashing Marlena and they’ll lose her forever. Roman listens at the door, saying it’s quiet. John tells Roman to shoot him if he must. Marlena is awake now and when Alex asks if she remembers what he told her, replies that memory isn’t her long suit lately (good one) and excuses herself to answer the door. Meanwhile..Sami (and Austin) rush into the hall as Sami demands to know what’s going on. She knows Roman isn’t there as a cop as much as he still loves Marlena. Naturally Kate groans at that. No one is happy she’s there and when she learns Alex is in with her mom, explodes. John’s happy they agree on something. Kate asks Austin why he’s there and he hushes her. Roman finally agrees and they open the door and rush in calling her name. Marlena comes downstairs in her robe, confused as to why everyone is there. Moments later Alex comes down (now in his pajamas) asking what’s going on. John calls him a bastard, saying he’s not getting away with this and Roman stops him from going after Alex as just the credits roll….(no previews…a new format or did they forget??)

JUST AN FYI…
*Shoofly pie is a traditional Pennysylvania Dutch pie that is considered a delicacy in both that cuisine and in Southern Cooking. It is often referred to as "wet bottom" in its most common form because it comprises of a layer of sweet, gooey molasses beneath a crumb topping sometimes compared to that of a coffee cake. In contrast, a "dry bottom" shoofly pie is more thoroughly mixed into a cake-like consistency. The origin of the name is commonly thought to arise from the cooling of a fresh-made pie on a window sill during colonial times, where the scent would attract flies that would have to be "shooed" away.

Episode # 10167
Tape Date: 9/14/05
Air Date: 10/17/05
Director: Jim Baffico

Summary: Shawn and Mimi continue to get closer, which disturbs Belle…Sami and Nicole argue over Austin…Bonnie makes a move on Roman…Alex continues his manipulation of Marlena, but John seems to get through to her on some level. (On a side note, the song “Streets of Love” is played again briefly today, with a tag at the end of the credits that reads “Promotional Considerations furnished by Virgin Records. “Streets of Love” performed by The Rolling Stones. Courtesy of Promotone B.V. written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.”)

AT THE LOFT…Philip is taking care of baby Claire downstairs as we get a replay of Belle climbing up to the roof. She sees Mimi and Shawn dancing and heads back down. But she pops her head back up for a second look and makes a noise. Shawn and Mimi hear the noise and she heads back down. (Interesting, this time, she does NOT slip on the ladder). Shawn looks but doesn’t see anything and Mimi laughs, telling maybe it was a ghost from their past. She talks about how the rooftop has such memories and points out the door with all the initials carved in it, including his and Belle’s and hers and Rex’s. He says maybe they need to make new memories and they kiss. She asks him if he is ready to take the next step and he stops. He thinks they should take it slow, so she agrees. He suggests they go back downstairs and she will make hot chocolate. She says to herself to keep her big mouth shut and not ruin this. Belle goes back downstairs and tells Philip she went up to the roof for some air. He doesn’t think that was a good idea, especially since Lexie gave her a sedative (well, DUH). She apologizes for getting upset earlier and he informs her that Lexie thinks she may have PPD, even though she tells him she thinks there is more to it. He questions her and she tells him that she is so lucky with him and the baby and maybe she fears losing it all. They hear Shawn and Mimi through the vent and Philip says it sounds like they are having a good time. The look on her face says it all and he asks her if she has a problem with that. She tells him yes she does. He asks if she still has feelings for Shawn and she says that she cares for both Shawn and Mimi and afraid it won’t work out for them. But Philip thinks it is good and they belong together. He has a gift for her…a box of chocolate truffles (her favorite). She digs in and he is happy to see her smile. She asks him to make love to her and practically attacks him right there in the living room.

Across the hall…Mimi tells Shawn that even though she ruined dinner, she still has desert…a chocolate lava cake she bought at the bakery. They laugh and yuck it up (this is when Belle and Philip hear them) and as he feeds her cake, gets it all over her face. He kisses it off and they end up horizontal on the sofa. But Shawn stops and apologizes and they agree to cool it. He has rented a movie so he pops it in and they settle on the sofa to watch it.

AT ALICE’S…Roman is surprised to see Lucas working the bar and Lucas tells him he has already heard about it from EVERYONE. He tells him about his job with Victor and they also talk about Sami. Lucas asks him how/why the charges were dropped and is not so happy to hear from Roman that it was all because of Austin. But Roman admits that he is happy that Sami is not in jail, after all she IS his daughter. But Lucas says that getting off the hook isn’t going to help her…she will never grow and learn from her mistakes. Roman agrees with that as they look across the room and see Sami and Nicole arguing.

Nicole and Austin are shooting pool as she continuously leans over the table showing off her “assets” and distracting him. She reminds him of their bet and Sami overhears, telling Nicole “game over”. They get into it as Austin has to break them up, threatening to leave. Nicole throws her arm around Sami, saying they are “almost buddies” (LOL) as Austin walks away. Sami tells her to get off of her and they go back to arguing. Nicole tells Sami she can’t stop her from making a play for Austin and Sami tells her to think again.

Lucas and Roman console each other about losing their women as both assure the other that there is someone else out there for each of them. Bonnie comes over and starts openly flirting. She sits and talks with Roman about his troubles with both Kate and Sami over a free beer. Bonnie offers to help with Sami and goes over to talk to her. On the way, she mutters that the way to a man’s heart is through his children…but she isn’t sure she can handle this one. (LOL). Bonnie tells Sami she can see the little green monsters in her eyes as Sami keeps an eye on Austin and Nicole shooting pool. Bonnie asks which one she is after…Lucas or Austin as Sami walks away. Bonnie follows, telling her that straddling the fence is a bad idea. She should choose one man and straddle him instead (ROFL) as Sami is taken aback by this. Bonnie tells her that Roman is HOT and Sami informs her that she is NOT going to be dating her dad and walks over to him. She tells him she is upset because Lucas won’t talk to her and vows to get him back. Bonnie tells Roman that she tried, but Sami wouldn’t listen to her. She offers him a plate of ribs, noting that he looks thin lately. He asks her to join him so they sit and chow down on ribs. Sophie the waitress asks Lucas out on a date, but he turns her down, saying he isn’t ready. She gives him her phone number and says call her when he IS ready, as Sami overhears all this and is on the verge of tears. She also overhears Austin and Nicole talking about her as well. Austin declares they are just friends and says he can’t abandon her as Sami says thank you Austin (to herself). Austin tries to talk to Lucas again but they end up arguing. Lucas asks if he is falling for Sami again and if he has some obsession about his ex’s and thinks he needs help. Sami and Nicole are back to arguing again as Sami tells her that Austin is not interested in a tramp like her. Nicole says she IS going after Austin and there is nothing Sami can do to stop her. Sami says she will ruin her. But Nicole is determined that she and Austin WILL end up together as Sami says over her dead body. (People in Salem sure are saying that a LOT lately, lol).

AT CHEZ ROUGE…Alex tells John to leave Marlena alone or he will call the police. Kate warns Alex to leave John alone but Alex says he is only trying to protect Marlena. Kate tells him that John is on to him as John tries to convince Marlena to leave with him so they can talk. She is confused and doesn’t know what to do. John apologizes for pressuring her but wants her to think it over and reminds her that she is the love of his life and he can’t just give up and walk away. Kate tells Alex that they have been watching him and think he is romancing Marlena, but he plays innocent. Marlena compromises and tells John that she will talk with him tomorrow, but for tonight she is tired. John asks her one favor…before she goes to bed to lock the bedroom door. She promises that there is nothing going on between her and Alex, but John tells her that he saw them together. She asks if he is spying on her and he back tracks, talking about Alex kissing her at the cabin. John thinks that Alex is behind her asking for a divorce but she doesn’t believe that. Alex and Marlena leave with her promising to talk to him more later. John tells Kate he isn’t sure if he got through to her or not. Kate and John leave as well, planning to keep an eye on them.

BACK AT THE PENTHOUSE…Marelena and Alex are on the terrace. She spaces out a bit and then tells Alex that she was thinking of John. He reaches in his pocket (I assume for the magic necklace) but before he can pull it out, she tells him that she is tired and going to bed. After she leaves, Alex says she can NOT go back to John…he has worked too hard. From across the way, John is watching through the binoculars, hoping that Marlena will follow his advice and lock her door. Alex says he can beat John at his own game and knows exactly how to do it. Marlena readies for bed as John watches and sees her lock the door, proud of her. Alex takes out his tape player and listens to his suggestive dialogue and heads upstairs. He realizes that her door is locked and says this won’t stop him. John sees Marlena’s lights go out and is pleased as Kate rolls in a tray of food from room service. As they prepare to eat, we see Alex sneaking along the ledge, headed for Marlena’s room…as the previews show…

Austin (to Nicole): You know, sometimes I wonder if you have a heart at all…
Shawn walks in as Belle looks at him and starts to cry…

John: I need to get North out of that Penthouse…Sami: Mom needs our help!...as Roman, John, Sami and Kate all rush through the door, calling out Marlena’s name…

Alex (to Marlena): Alex is the only man you should be with….Marlena: I hear, Alex…and I understand…

Episode: 10,166
Director Herb Stein
Tape Date: 9/13/05

Jack and Jen tell Abby about Jack’s fatal illness, Nicole forgets quickly about Brady as she targets in on Austin, and John tracks down Marlena.

AT THE DEVERAUX’S…
Frankie leaves to give Jen and Jack time alone. They ponder how to tell Abby about Jack’s fatal illness. Jack thinks about making a video for the kids and suggests that their son will have another father to raise him. This upsets Jen.

Outside Abby and Chelsea talk about how uncertain life is. Abby tells her that their parents can always be depended upon. They go inside and Abby tells them about how many people they got to sign up for the Light the Night Walk. Abby senses how upset her parents are about something and they ask Chelsea to give them some time alone. Jack comes right to the point and tells Abby he’s been diagnosed with a serious illness. She asks if that means he’ll be on a medicine for life, but he tells her no, it’s fatal and he’s going to die. We return to Abby breaking down at this news. Jen tells her she just found out too. Abby realizes that Jack knew when he danced with her at Chloe’s wedding and how he promised to always be there for her. He lied to her and she rushes out the door. Chelsea is outside and Abby doesn’t tell her why she’s crying, just that she wants to go away and never come back. The two gals sit down and Abby tells Chelsea that her dad’s dying and she was wrong earlier, they can’t count on anything. Crying she tells Chelsea that she’s used up her miracles and her dad is really dying and there’s nothing that can be done. Inside Jack tells Jen that Abby’s strong and will be okay, they shouldn’t go after her. He hugs Jen as we see Abby hugging Chelsea outside. Chelsea feels Abby should go inside, her parents need her, but Abby just wants to get in Chelsea’s car and go somewhere. Jen breaks down inside and tells Jack she doesn’t think she could handle him dying. He tells her it will be alright, he knows that this time.

AT ALICE’S….
Nicole encounters Sami outside Alice’s and the two women remind each other how big a loser they both are. Nicole tells Sami that Austin’s a nice person and deserves someone better than her (Sami). Sami assures Nicole that she’s not after Austin and wants Lucas back, but Austin deserves someone better than Nicole. Sami tells Nicole that Austin is waiting for her and tells Nicole to go home. Nicole shoves Sami into the bushes and runs inside Alice’s to get Austin first instead.

Lucas tells Austin he knows that Victor offered the job to him first. Lucas is sick of Austin’s hand me downs and cast offs. Austin tells Lucas not to be ridiculous and he’d do a great job for Victor. Lucas knows he will. Austin reminds him they’re brothers, not competitors. Austin reiterates he’s not “shacking up” with Sami as Nicole struts in. She explains Sami got a little “hung up” and offers to buy Austin a drink. Lucas mutters to himself (guess Austin is getting Lucas’ left overs too, ha ha) while wiping the bar. She tells Austin she missed him as she gives him a little kiss. She asks him not to let Sami back in his life again. He knows Sami needs help. Nicole tries to change his mind on that and warns him to stay away from Sami. She challenges him to a little game of 8-ball and he accepts the challenge. She asks for a bet on that and he says he doesn’t gamble. She says it’s not for money. If she wins, he has to come home with her tonight (uh, where are you living without any money Nicole?), not Sami. Later we join them as Nicole’s on a roll and pocketing pool balls. She knows Austin’s getting an eye full as she bends over the table to take her shot and tells him to start packing his bags (didn’t see him have any bags, did you?) She tells him she has all night. Sami walks in and pulls leaves out of her hair as she sees Nicole and Austin sitting at a table. She pulls out her compact to prep and sees Lucas at the bar and goes mushy (aww). She rushes over and asks what he’s doing there. He asks why she’s not in jail and she tells him the charges were dropped, thanks to Austin. Lucas rants that he wished Austin would mind his own damn business. The waitress tells Sami about Lucas’s new job with Victor as she picks some drinks up at the bar. Sami’s thrilled for Lucas and tells him he’ll do a great job. It’s what they always dreamed of. Lucas coldly tells her that he finally turned his life around and it took leaving her for it to happen. Ouch. She turns and sees Austin with Nicole while swatting some more leaves off her top.

FINDING MARLENA….
John and Kate search the penthouse and after John realizes it’s empty, he and Kate are joined by the building’s doorman, Charlie. He was instructed by Dr. Evans not to let John in unescorted. John tells Charlie that he’s worried about his wife and Charlie tells him he overheard Dr. North tell Marlena that he’s taking her to that new fancy French Restaurant, Chez Rouge. Big surprise, that’s John and Kate’s next stop.

CHEZ ROUGE
Apparently it took a while for John and Kate to get to the penthouse as we find Marlena and John dressed up and at Chez Rouge. Alex asks Marlena if anything’s wrong as she’s barely touched her dinner. She wonders if she rushed into asking John for a divorce. She tells Alex about the photo album John showed her and how happy they were in it. He confuses her by reminding her of how sure she was asking for the divorce. (little flashback of him hypnotizing her is shown) She feels she should wait until she gets her memory back before making such an important decision. She excuses herself to use the powder room and he offers to order some nice tea to soothe her nerves (uh oh). He slips a prescription bottle out of his pocket saying “You’re not making this easy my dear. It’s time to get you back on the program and this should do the track.” He’s got the drug stirred into the tea just before Marlena returns. He tells her it’s crucial for her to stay away from John for a while. She doesn’t think that’s right for her to be apart from her husband at a time like this, it just doesn’t feel right.

John and Kate arrive at Chez Rouge. They found Superman’s phone booth enroute apparently as he’s now in a suit and tie and her in a black dress and wrap. She doesn’t recommend him bursting in and interrupting their dinner. Marlena fingers her tea cup as Alex notes she hasn’t drank any. She gives her full cup to the waiter and asks for some coffee instead as she sees John and Kate walk in. Alex uses that to his advantage, telling Marlena that John’s moved on already. Alex begs her to dance and she reluctantly agree. John asks Kate to dance with him too and they approach Marlena and Alex. John tells him no hard feelings and asks Marlena to dance with him. Kate seconds the idea when Alex tells John he has a dance partner already. Marlena agrees if Alex doesn’t mind, but he says he does as Marlena just mentioned being tired and wanting to sit down. Not wanting to dispute what he said, Marlena seconds that. John tells Kate that Alex acts like he owns Marlena and Kate agrees. John threatens to kill Alex if he hurts Marlena. After Alex thanks Marlena for having dinner with him, they go to leave. John tells Kate he’s going to make a scene. He takes Marlena’s arm and tells her she’s not going anywhere with him (Alex). Alex tells him to take his hand off her and John responds “over my cold, dead body…” as Marlena stares at John…

And the previews roll….

Mimi to Shawn: Are you ready to take the next step…and they kiss….

Philip to Belle: Looks like Mimi and Shawn had a good time. Do you have a problem with that?
Belle’s response: Yes, I do.

Alex to himself: I can beat John at his own game and I know exactly how to do it.

Nicole to Sami: Austin and I will end up together.
Sami’s response: Over my dead body (quite the popular saying in Salem, isn’t it?)

Episode # 10165; Tape Date: 9/12/05; Air Date: 10/13/05; Director: Albert Alarr

Summary: Lexie thinks Belle may be headed for post-partum depression…Kate urges Victor to offer Lucas a job…Austin offers Lucas advice, but he doesn’t want to listen…John is determined to save Marlena from Dr. North. (If you have to miss a day…this is the one. Sorry folks, but I almost nodded off during this show.)

AT THE SALEM INN…
John is continuing his vigil of spying on Marlena and Alex as Abe arrives (a cop, Mark drove him over). John must have called him, because Abe asks why he is at Kate’s. John explains that Marlena kicked him out and has asked for a divorce. He fills him in on Alex’s scheme and wants Abe to help him come up with a plan to rescue her. He is only trying to help her, but Alex has been manipulating her all along. As he watches them on the terrace, he tells Abe he is determined to help her. He says that Marlena isn’t even aware of what is going on…he is sure she still loves him…she just doesn’t know it. Abe tells him that at one time he was sure of Lexie’s love, but now he thinks she may be involved with someone else. Since he returned from the island, things have changed and he has no one to blame but himself. He says he is going to try and work things out with her and convince her that he still loves her. But John says that Marlena is to a point that she doesn’t even want to be in the same room with him anymore…North isn’t trying to recover her memory, he is trying to wipe the slate clean. Abe suggests that John have Marlena declared incompetent, but John is sure it would all backfire on him with Alex contradicting him and making things worse…North has this all planned out. Abe compares him to Stephano, but is sure that he will make a mistake somewhere and John will be there to catch him. Mark comes back for Abe as he encourages John to hang in there. Kate arrives as they are leaving (she was at Alice’s…see below). Abe says his goodbyes as John explains they were talking about Marlena. He goes back to his spying and sees them getting close on the balcony. John blows a gasket, calling Alex a son of a bitch and gets very angry. He says he is going over there and get rid of North, even if he has to throw him off the balcony. Kate stops him, telling him she isn’t going to let him do that.

AT ALICE’S BAR…Kate questions Victor about Brady’s vacated position (seems they are going to live in Europe). She says she has someone in mind for the job. Austin enters Alice’s and says “This sure ain’t Tuscany anymore…yehaw” (LOL). He finds Lucas at the bar and asks what he is doing there and proceeds to lecture him about working there. Lucas doesn’t want to hear it but Austin says he is in denial. Kate explains to Victor that Lucas won’t accept a job from her and wants him to give Lucas a chance. Victor doesn’t think Lucas’ head is in the right place, but Kate tries to convince him. Victor finally agrees to at least talk to him. Kate complains about how Sami is now chasing after Austin and wants Victor to talk with him as well. LOL as an annoyed Victor notes she sure is asking for a lot of favors. He will consider Lucas for the job, but that’s it. Austin tells Lucas that he is only trying to help, but Lucas turns a deaf ear to him. He makes it clear that he is upset that Austin has run back to Sami. Austin says he is only trying to support her and be a friend. Lucas suggests that he should move in with Kate or just leave town and reminds Austin what all Sami did to HIM. Austin tries to talk him into giving her another chance, but Lucas wants nothing to do with it and tells him not to lecture him.

Later, Austin is shooting pool alone when Victor joins him. Victor talks about all the changes in Salem since he left and asks him about his staying at Sami’s. Austin tells him that is none of his business and Victor says that being a business man, he makes everything his business. Austin realizes that Kate put him up to talking to him (that Austin grew some brain cells outside of Salem…wonder how long it will take for him to lose them all?) Austin tells him he is a big boy and makes his own decisions. Victor talks about how successful Austin is in NYC and talks about Brady’s vacated position. He asks Austin to come work for him, but Austin turns him down, BUT knows someone else that would be perfect. Victor says yes, he has heard and leaves. Kate sashays over to the bar to talk to Lucas but he isn’t too thrilled about it. He tells her that he doesn’t want her charity job, so she tells him that Victor is looking for someone to replace Brady at Titan. She says she tossed his hat into the ring. Lucas asks what she is she hoping for?...a Walton family reunion (LOL). Kate is not amused by his joke and leaves. Later, Victor comes over and tells Lucas that he has a proposition for him and tells him about the job at Titan and talks about what a good job he did for him before. Victor is willing to overlook that he worked for Tony and offers him the job. Lucas is excited and promises not to let him down. After Victor leaves, Sophie (the new waitress) asks why he is so excited and he tells her about the job offer. She tells him that Victor offered the job to Austin and it’s a good thing he turned him down…bursting Lucas’ bubble.

AT THE LOFT…Philip frets as Lexie is upstairs examining Belle. Shawn and Mimi try to assure him that everything will be okay. Lexie tells Belle that there is nothing physically wrong with her but she is exhausted and needs rest. She suggests she take a nap as Belle lies down, hugging a teddy bear. Lexie goes downstairs and gives everyone an update, and explains that she may run tests later. She suspects that she is suffering from all the trauma lately…a rushed marriage, an unplanned pregnancy, Philip being shipped off and losing his leg, etc. She says that Belle has had to make a lot of adjustments and has a lot to deal with in such a short time. She thinks she may be developing a case of post-partum depression. Upstairs, Belle tosses and turns as she dreams about Shawn, Philip and the baby. She gets up, wondering what is wrong with her as she holds Claire. Lexie explains to Philip about Belle’s condition and says he needs to help her eliminate stress, and doesn’t need medication right now. Shawn and Mimi promise their support as well. Lexie says that someone needs to be with her at all times. Claire starts crying as Belle starts breaking down, not knowing what to do. Everyone rushes upstairs as she sobs. Lexie asks Mimi and Shawn to leave as Philip takes the baby and Belle is crying that she “is so sorry”. Lexie gives her something to help her sleep as Philip thanks her for being there. Lexie is sure that she will recover, just give her time. Shawn and Mimi have returned home and talk about what is going on. Mimi blames herself for what is going on with Belle, saying that Belle started losing it upon seeing her and Shawn together. Mimi tells him that she lied to him when she said the kiss didn’t mean anything, she really likes him and was hoping for more than friendship. He admits that he wasn’t telling the truth either but was afraid to say anything, afraid to ruin their friendship. He suggests they continue their date and they head to the roof. Belle is tossing and turning again and wakes up in a sweat, saying she has to get out of there that she can’t breathe. So she heads out to the fire escape and begins to climb the ladder to the roof. Shawn and Mimi are on the roof slow-dancing and then they kiss…just as Belle peers over the ledge and sees them. She heads back down the ladder as her foot slips and she begins to fall…and the previews show…

Nicole (to Austin): If I win, you go home with me…NOT Sami…

Sami (to Lucas): I’m really grateful to Austin…I thought you would be too. (Lucas): You know what I’d be grateful for?...If he would mind his own damned business…

Jen (to Jack): Abigail…how are you going to tell her?...

John (to Alex): She is leaving with you over my cold dead body…

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12TH, 2005

Episode#10,164
Tape date 9/9/05
Director – Herb Stein

Kate asks Victor for a favor, Abby hosts a fund raiser, while Austin continues to try to make Sami change her ways, and Jennifer has to accept the bitter truth. The show today throws in a bit of back history

AT THE FALL MIXER, Max is busy autographing pictures for a bevy of pretty girls, as Abby comes over to congratulate him. He is happy to help out in her fundraising efforts for leukemia/lyphoma, but she says her signup is mostly girls, with few guys for the Light the Night Walk. He tells her it is wonderful for her to have taken this on, when just in her freshman year of college. (Hmmm, when did Abby graduate high school? Lol) Abby talks a bit about her own bout with aplastic anemia & needing the bone marrow transplant. Chelsea walks in, wearing one of those “gramma Kate” outfits, but leading a couple of guys she found to participate in the walk. Abby leaves, running into Josh, who asks her to dance. Chelsea plays up to Max as usual, then grabs him for a big kiss. The gals watching wonder how much that cost her. Chelsea takes out her lipstick, dropping a picture to the floor. She picks it up, looking sad, telling Max it is a picture of her parents and how much she misses them. He tries to tell her how lucky she is to still have parents who love her. He then talks of his own childhood, how he barely remembers his mom, (who died) and how his dad, Trent, beat him all the time. He talks of being in the foster home or orphanage, and meeting Frankie there, and how he was so traumatized at the time he could not talk, and Frankie was his voice. He says he considers Shawn & Caroline his parents, and no one else. He mentions that Trent came to town once, but left when he saw how happy and well cared for Max was with the Bradys. Chelsea wishes Billie would do the same, leave town and leave her alone. Josh comes up suggesting that they all go to the Java Café for Karaoke Night. Abby remarks that they raised $600, not counting the pledges for the Walk, and she can’t wait to tell her dad. He will be so proud of her.

AT ALICE’S, Nicole bellies up to the bar, ordering a vodka martini, and to make it a double, but not the expensive stuff, as she is on a tight budget. The bartender turns around, and she is startled to see Lucas, who seems to be filling in for Shawn. They bandy a few words back and forth…mostly in re: Lucas being an alcoholic, and Nicole being on the prowl again for a man, since Brady is gone.

Outside, Kate meets up with Victor, glad he could come, and needing a favor. They go inside, sit down, and are soon joined by Nicole. She pulls up a chair, moans about not having enough money to leave town, and then makes a crack about the bartender and leaves. The new waitress comes up, wondering if they are in the right place, as they appear to be the most sophisticated folks she has seen in there all day. She takes their order, leaves, and Kate asks Victor to try and check up on Dr. North. She is worried about John, explains about Dr. North sabotaging every effort John makes to have her remember, etc. and then Marlena making him leave, and asking for a divorce. Victor asks where John is staying now, and raises eyebrows when she tells him that he has moved into her suite, into the guest bedroom. (Yeah, the one unavailable for daughter Billie when she had no where to stay) Victor knows John is ISA and can do all the checking himself, but Kate thinks Victor would perhaps be more objective. Meanwhile, the new waitress (assume this is new character, Sophie) chats it up with Lucas, mentioning having this autographed picture of Max, and trying to sell it on E-Bay. Lucas tells her she better hold on to it for a bit, until he begins racing again. She questions him about Max’s last name being Brady, and wondering if any relationship to Shawn. Lucas explains. The waitress begins talking a bit about Bonnie being such a hoot, and how she hired her so quickly when she learned she had also applied at Chez Rouge. Lucas explains he is only there because Mimi started a fire or something at the apt. so Shawn could not come in. The waitress comments that Mimi must have learned cooking skills from her mother, and wonders why Bonnie would be owning a restaurant when she is such a terrible cook. Victor spots Lucas, tells Kate, and she mutters something about Sami, and goes storming over to the bar. Lucas tells her off once again, mentioning how propective employers usher him out the door during an interview, as soon as they hear he once worked for Tony DiMera. She offers him a job at Basic Black, but he more or less tells her to take the job and shove it. She leaves, and the waitress now mentions something to Lucas about “that woman” being Kate Roberts, head of Basic Black. When he tells her that is his mother, she is surprised then, that he needs a job. Kate returns to the table to hear Victor on the phone, talking about a company acquisition, and then about how they seem to be unable to find someone to replace Brady. (One can just see the wheel turning in Kate’s head as she very definitely has a lightbulb moment.)

AT SAMI’S APT., she is packing up the last of the wedding gifts she intends to return, except for the toaster oven, which she happens to need. Austin says no, she cannot keep it, but Sami says it doesn’t cost that much, and was from John, and he has plenty of money. Austin says that makes no difference, gives her a big pep talk about changing, growing up, accepting responsibility for herself. He tells her to stay away from his mother, give up the revenge, turn over a new leaf, etc. She’s resistant, he’s insistant, even saying he would pack his things and go. She claims she is going to try, just wishes he could be her guardian angel, sitting on her shoulder all the time to help her. They decide to go to Alice’s to eat, and he leaves to go get his wallet. Knock, Knock, and here is Nicole. Sami asks what she wants, she says ….Austin! Nicole barges her way inside as Austin comes out. She wants to take him for something to eat, Sami insists the two of them were going out, Austin says they all should go. Now both gals begin to argue over who will go with Austin, as he leaves. They realize he is not in the room, and funny scene as they go looking into other rooms, then realize he has left, and rush out the door, squeezing each other aside to be first…..and off they go, not even closing the door behind them. LOL

AT THE DEVERAUX HOUSE, Frankie talks to Lexie, wishing he could more for Jack and Jennifer. Lexie babbles on and on about the situation, hoping Frankie will stand by Jennifer to pick up the pieces. Outside, Jennifer tells Jack he isn’t going to die, she won’t let him. He tries to reason with her, but she insists there is no such things as an impossible miracle. She goes inside to talk to Lexie about his recovery. Lexie tries to make Jennifer realize that Jack’s illness is terminal. Outside, Jack again begs Frankie to stick around for Jen. Suddenly, Jennifer comes running out of the house, crying. Jack goes after her, but is unable to find her. Jennifer finds a bench, sits down, sobbing uncontrollably. She looks upward, and begins to rail at God, asking why he keeps doing this to her family. She cries, prays, but rants as well. She covers her face with her hands, as tears fall. Jack comes up, sits down, and holds her, as she sobs on his shoulder. And the previews show

Lucas to Austin: Sami’s already suckered you in…..Again! So don’t lecture me.

Abe to John: You think that’s what North’s intention all along? John replies, hell, yeah. He’s not trying to restore her memory. In fact he’s doing everything he can to wipe that slate clean.

Mimi to Shawn: I saw Belle realize she would never be with you again. That’s when she broke down.

Lexie to Phil: Belle is developing post partum depression.

Belle (who is alone and in a robe): I can’t breathe in here.

Episode: 10163
Directed by: Herb Stein
Tape Date: 9/9/05

Philip and Belle bring Claire home to the loft; Mimi's dinner goes up in flames; Jennifer refuses to accept Jack's going to die; and John finds a new place to watch the penthouse.

AT THE LOFTS...
Philip and Belle bring baby Claire home to the loft. Although she says she had to wear her maternity clothes home, Belle’s as slim as before she was pregnant (which was a couple of months ago, haha). She lays Claire in the bassinet as Philip hurriedly tells her what supplies he’s gotten for the baby and figures her friends and family will no doubt be giving her a shower soon. Unsure, Belle listens to all of this, mentioning her mom might not be up to that and Mimi agreed to be the baby’s Godmother, but other than that…as she stares at Claire and breaks into tears. Belle claims they’re happy tears because she loves Claire so much. Philip goes to order Chinese food as Belle mentions no spicy food or broccoli as she read those are bad for the baby. Philip vows to take care of her and Claire, it's his turn being Belle took such good care of him. Later Philip lugs in a few bags of Chinese food and mentions smelling something good from Shawn and Mimi’s loft. Belle laughs knowing neither Mimi or Shawn can cook.

Mimi is caught off guard as Shawn kisses her
and then gives her a bottle of wine that Aunt Maggie gave him for a special occasion. Mimi puts the mac and cheese casserole in the oven to brown for the last 10 minutes when her mother calls to get an update. Caught up on her call with Bonnie, Mimi forgets to watch the oven and it starts smoking and the smoke alarm goes off. Mimi tells her mom thanks a lot and goes to get the casserole out. Philip and Belle hear the alarm and she goes to grab Claire. Philip rushes across the hall to check on what’s happening. Shawn rushes in with a fire extinguisher and puts out the casserole. Philip arrives amidst the smoke and invites them to dinner. Shawn accepts and Mimi tells him to go alone after Philip leaves. Shawn talks her into going and they bring the special wine. Belle is surprised when Philip returns and tells her that he invited them over, but tells him he did the right thing. Belle mentions how it’ll never be just her and him again and Philip says it’ll only be better with their baby now. Shawn and Mimi fawn over Claire and Mimi admits she’s glad she came. Seeing Mimi and Shawn happy together makes Belle even more blue as she smiles with tears in her eyes. At the table all but Belle has wine in their glass as Philip makes a toast to good friends, long lives, loving relationships and beautiful, healthy children. Mimi and Belle both are taken back after that toast.

AT THE PENTHOUSE...
Marlena tells Alex how sorry she feels for John. He assures Marlena she’s much better off without him. She talks about how everyone tells her she and John love each other so much, maybe they’re right. He asks why she slept with her ex husband then, keeping that doubt in her brain before the grand slam of asking why John was so fast to take up with her best friend, Kate Roberts, when he thought she was dead? Marlena tells Alex he’s the only person she can trust not to lie to her. He promises to do anything in his power to ensure her happiness. She asks if she’ll ever get her memory back. He knows she’s a strong person and will survive, even if she doesn’t. Not many people have the chance to start fresh with a clean slate.

KATE'S HOTEL ROOM..
Kate takes John back to her hotel room. He wants to get his own room, claiming he’d be bad company, but she insists he come in. She turns the pity party to her own woes which puts him on the offensive as he comes in to assure her she’s not alone. John decides positive subjects are best and glad Austin’s back in town. He mentions Chelsea being her newfound granddaughter and their own new granddaughter Claire. Kate mentions how such a short time ago they thought Roman and Marlena dead. He knows Marlena and Roman saw his engagement ring on her finger and things changed more. Kate said her and Roman’s marriage was doomed from the start. John figures Marlena and Roman wouldn’t have slept together if Tony hadn’t shown them the footage of them together in bed. John rationalizes the penthouse was Marlena’s first and will let her stay there. Kate suggests he move into her hotel room and they’ll team up. He promises to think long and hard about it and gazes out the window. He didn’t realize she could see the penthouse from her room. Kate said she can now that they took down the old Madison Hotel and when he spots Alex and Marlena on the balcony, she goes to get her binoculars. He watches the penthouse from the binoculars, not believing it as he watches Marlena and Alex dancing as she snuggles up to Alex’s shoulder, saying how safe she feels. Kate states that being John isn’t there and with Marlena in such a vulnerable position, Alex can get whatever he wants. (how long before John plants an ISA bug in the penthouse so he can hear what's going on too?)

AT THE DEVERAUX’S
Frankie and Lexie talk about Jack and Jen. She is surprised to learn he knew about Jack’s illness and didn’t tell Jennifer. He tells her about Jack’s request for him to take over after he died. He explains his reactions to Jack’s request, but Lexie can tell how much Frankie still loves Jennifer. Frankie admits being terrified to put his heart on the line again as he knows how much Jen and Jack love each other. Jen’s the best friend he ever had and he’s glad she knows the truth now.
He doesn’t know what will happen, but it shouldn’t start with a lie. He’ll support them however he can.

Outside Jack tells Jennifer he is going to die and for her to accept it. When she refuses to, he claims that’s why he didn’t tell her. She tells him how she thought him dead twice and he came back to her. Yes, she does believe in miracles. He’s had cancer and a kidney transplant, he doesn’t give up that easily. Jack reminds her everyone’s got to go some day and his time is just much sooner than they thought. He jokes how much they’ve traveled and thanks to Dimera Travel..to islands no one has else been on. He says he just wants to enjoy what time he’s got left with her without thinking of his upcoming death. She figures she can do that, but in her heart she knows it can’t be true…
as the previews roll....

Two girls watch as Chelsea kisses someone, they wonder how much she had to pay for that….

Jen to Jack…”you are not going to die…I won’t let you Jack!”

Kate and Victor are hanging at Alice’s (yeah, right) and see Lucas working as a bartender. Victor: “How long has Lucas been working at Alice’s?”

Kate’s reply: “Damn Sami, I won’t let you drive Lucas back to the bottle.” (I think Kate’s interference has helped that a little too!)

Sami rushes Nicole out of her apartment and asks Nicole what she wants. Nicole’s answer with a smile…”Austin”.

Episode # 10162; Tape Date: 9/8/05; Air Date: 10/10/05; Director: Phil Sogard

Summary: Marlena (with Alex’s help) tosses John out…then Kate turns to him for help…Bo and Caroline play matchmaker to Shawn and Mimi…Jennifer finds out the bitter truth about Jack and confronts him. (Thumbs-up performances from Missy Reeves and Matt Ashford).

At the Brady Pub…Kate is outside having flashbacks of Austin getting Sami off the hook. She thinks that there is something that she did that will bring her down and decides to call John for help. Inside, Shawn is having flashbacks of kissing Mimi as Caroline asks him what is on his mind…sure it is a girl. Bo is also there and they start questioning him about it. He doesn’t want to talk about it so Caroline backs off, saying she has an appointment anyway. After she leaves, Bo sits with him and asks him if it is about Mimi. Shawn talks about how they are friends and not sure how she feels. He says the last thing he wants to do is hurt her. Bo reminds him that they have been there a lot for each other lately. Bo advises him to go pay her a visit and gives him a rose off one of the tables.

Meanwhile, at the Beauty Salon…Mimi is there as Glorianne is bombarding her with questions about Rex. After Mimi tells her it is over, she sympathizes with her, telling her that things always happen for a reason. She has flashbacks of kissing Shawn and is asked if there is someone else. Mimi tells her about Shawn, as someone close by (Bonnie) is listening in and perks up. Mimi goes on to tell her that she used to have a crush on him and he was her first kiss. But then he dated her best friend. She also tells her that her friend moved on to and married someone else. Glorianne encourages her to go after him as Bonnie yanks back the curtain, saying that is what she said too. She says she needs to rope him and brand his but and rushes out to the car to get something. Caroline is in the next cube as Bonnie rushes back in with a rope and a branding iron (lol). Glorianne comes and gets Bonnie for her waxing as Mimi apologizes to Caroline for her mother’s behavior. She explains that there is really nothing going on between her and Shawn, just a kiss. Caroline tells her she had another impression and offers to listen if Mimi wants to talk. Caroline tells her that if she wants to find out if there is more to it, listen to her as she fills her in on a secret. Bonnie comes back looking for Mimi, but she is gone (apparently she took Caroline’s advice).

Later, we find Mimi at home cooking as Shawn arrives. He is thrilled as she tells him she is making his favorite (macaroni and cheese) and has his grandmother’s recipe. He hands her the rose and kisses her as she blushes.

At the Penthouse…Alex is in the hall having a flashback of playing the music for Marlena. He pulls out a bottle of pills and says if that doesn’t work, this will. Inside, John is in shock over Marlena’s sudden turn-around. He realizes she changed during the phone call and demands to know who it was. She won’t tell him, but he is sure it was Dr. North and demands to know what he is doing to her. She says he did nothing…she just doesn’t have feelings for John anymore. She wants a divorce and wants him out of there ASAP. Kate calls during this and he is very rude with her (says “NOT NOW” ) and slams the phone down. Alex comes in asking if everything is okay as John explodes at him. But he plays innocent, blaming John for what is going on. But John says right now, family and loved ones are the only thing that can save Marlena. Marlena begs him to leave now and starts crying. He storms out as Alex holds her. In the hall, John runs into Kate as she asks what happened and he hugs her. Inside, Alex makes Marlena a cup of “special” tea (drugged) as she second guesses herself. He tells her she did the right thing, John is hampering her recovery. He says she must be in a controlled environment as she hugs him. Later, she gets a little woozy and he tells her to lie down as he puts on some music and starts playing that creepy music as she stares off into space. He says (to himself) that now my work really begins.

John and Kate end up outside the Brady Pub as he has told her what happened. He says he would rather not talk about it anymore and apologizes for hanging up on her earlier. He asks her what’s new with her and she tells him she needs his help to nail Sami. Later, they are inside as she has told him about Austin helping Sami. But she tells him she needs his help as she reminds him about “Stan” supplying John drugs, saying she could do time for that as a drug dealer. John refuses to help her, telling her to just drop it. He says that he couldn’t do that to Marlena, or Sami for that matter. He talks about how Marlena helped him when he first came to Salem, he now fears he may lose her for good.

At the Deveraux House…Jack is outside with Jack Jr. in the stroller as he talks to him, telling him how he would love to watch him grow up and how he loves him more that words can say. He talks about his own father and what a wonderful mother and sister he has and how they all changed him. He says he knows that Jack Jr. won’t remember him, but he is going to give him something as his legacy…a father to look up to…Frankie Brady. Inside, Jen is in shock over what she learned about the drug being for a fatal disease as she cries on Frankie’s shoulder. She decides to call Lexie since she is the doctor that prescribed it. She tells Lexie she needs to talk to her about Jack so Lexie tells her she will be right over. Outside, Jack continues to talk to the baby about his wonderful mother and what good parents she and Frankie will be for him. Lexie rushes over, asking what is wrong as Jen shows her the pills. She can see by the look on Lexie’s face it is bad. She demands to know what is wrong with Jack, but Lexie won’t tell her, even though Jen pleads. Jack walks in, asking what’s wrong. Jen spins around holding the bottle, saying “I KNOW!” Jack tries to tell her they are anti-biotics, but she tells him she looked it up…she knows they are for a fatal disease…but Lexie won’t tell her anything. Jack and Jen go outside as Lexie puts the baby down for a nap. Jen begs him to tell her that he is not dying. He talks about how he loves her and the kids and in a round-about way confirms her worst fears. He talks about growing old with her and she asks (through tears) “That isn’t going to happen is it?” as she sobs in his arms. Frankie tells Lexie that he is glad that Jen finally found out the truth as they worry about them. Jack makes light of the situation, telling Jen he doesn’t want to deal with the truth. She asks him how long but he doesn’t know. She is terribly upset the didn’t tell her from the beginning but he says he didn’t know how and he couldn’t bear to watch them suffer too. She tells him she is going to call her dad and Mike and they are going to find him a specialist, they can beat this…they will fight it together. He tells her that they have cheated death before, but maybe the third time is the charm as he holds her and she cries. From inside, Lexie and Frankie watch them through the window…as the previews show…

Marlena: It’s beautiful. (Alex): You certainly are…(as she turns and looks at him oddly)…

Kate (to John): He probably thinks no one can stop him from getting what he wants…

Philip (toasting, with Mimi, Shawn and Belle there): To good friends, loving relationships and beautiful healthy children (as Belle looks as if she is about to burst into tears)…

Jack (to Jen): It won’t be hard to forget I am dying? (Jen): NO…it won’t, because you AREN’T!...

Episode: 10161
Directed by: Jim Baffico
Tape Date: 9/7/05

SUMMARY: Austin saves Sami from becoming bacon; Marlena asks for a divorce; and Jen finds something that will answer her big question.

AT THE DEVERAUX HOME...
Frankie continues to confront Jack about his plan to disappear and how upset and angry it will make Jen. She overhears and asks what will make her do so? Jack tells her it’s a secret and Frankie knows it, but is sworn to secrecy. Jen gives up trying to find out what the secret is and takes Frankie into the kitchen for coffee. Later she and Frankie sip coffee as they pour cream out of the cream pitcher (confess..how many of you use those for casual cups of joe around the house?) as she talks about the party for Jack. He doesn’t think it’s such a good idea. Jen says she disagrees and she even invited a kid that Jack grew up with to it. Frankie agrees old friends might be good for Jack, but a surprise isn’t.

Jack continues working on his plan and remembers telling Lexie he just wants some special happy memories for his family. He thinks of various ways to kill himself, crossing off electrocution or suffocation. He looks at the calendar, saying Halloween is only two weeks away and Jen always loves his sense of humor. Jo (his mother) calls asking if he forgot to pick up Jack Jr. (who..oh yeah, his son). He tells her Vern can read all the bylines to Jack Jr. that he wants, he's a chip off the old block, and will be right there. Outside Jack promises himself that he’s going to leave on Halloween.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARLENA
Marlena calmly rationalizes a divorce to John, saying she doesn’t want anything from him. John can’t believe she’d ask for a divorce, especially on her birthday. He had plans to celebrate it and thought it would help her memory return. She rationalizes she doesn’t love him and being around him makes her uncomfortable. She wants to be alone. John looks at Alex and says he knows he's behind it. He denies it as does Marlena. John asks him to leave, but Marlena refuses to let him go. John asks for a moment alone with Alex. He tells Alex he’s had it and Alex says the same. His wife wants to leave and John’s refusing to let her. John squints and softly warns Alex he’ll throw him off that balcony if he doesn’t leave. Alex doesn’t think it’ll be that easy and it’ll only upset his patient. John looks back to see Marlena watching them. John tells him to get out of there and Alex tells Marlena he thinks it’s good for her and John to be alone and it won’t be for long and leaves. John gives Marlena her birthday gift. She removes the wrapped box lid to find a photo album. He asks if she wants her memory back and she says she does. He says she has nothing to lose and everthing to gain then by looking at the album. If she still wants him to leave, he will let her if she still wants to after she looks at it. Later we join them looking at pictures (we don't see them) of when Brady was in the scouts, when they were on a date (flashback of the red tbird and they were dressed in their 50’s duds (hmmm, John’s hair was shorter and a little grayer then..but being it was a flashback, used the cloudy flashback mist to disguise that I think ;-)..) Their wedding pictures are next as another flashback of him telling Marlena at the altar how he’ll make her sorrows, his sorrows and will grow old with her through all life has to offer until death parts them and they kiss. He tells her til death parts us and she says that’s enough and closes the album. Tears fill her eyes, but she says nothing came back, but it appears they had some amazing times together. He knows they’ve been through worse times than this and he knows what it’s like to lose your memory. Regardless of that, nothing could ever change what they feel for each other and he still loves her and he knows that she still loves him. They lean in for a kiss when the phone rings. She has to answer it and of course it’s Alex. He tells her to listen to the music and she knows what she’ll have to do. He holds the music up to the phone for her to her. She listens to it and John finally takes the phone from her and Alex disconnects. Marlena says it was a wrong number and looking him in the eye, demands a divorce, saying nothing has changed.

AT THE COP SHOP
A replay of Austin thanking Kate for something she said that might save Sami. He joins Sami and Roman and tells her there’s no way he’ll let her die for what she did. Good old Mickey, her lawyer, says the charges are pretty serious and recommends that Sami plead guilty if they’ll agree not to give her the death penalty. Austin realizes there are plenty of witnesses to testify against Sami/Stan, but there’s no way they can prosecute her for the charges she’s accused of. Everyone is baffled. Mickey disagrees, he’s read the charges and feels there is. Austin asks Sami to tell them how she became Stan in the first place and to be honest, her life depends on it. Kate makes herself comfortable (why don’t they kick her out of there? Talk about sloppy interrogation with her FATHER interrogating but letting his wife, Sami’s nemesis, plopped in a chair to contradict everything she says?) Sami tells them about her mysterious benefactor supplying her Stan get up. She didn’t know it was Tony. She continues how Kate caused her problems that started this and she convinced John she was guilty of sleeping with Brandon as well. She took advantage of an opportunity to get revenge. Once she knew Tony was behind it, she was as horrified about it as they are. Kate continues that Sami committed treason and almost got her other sons killed. Austin explains Sami is not guilty of TREASON. Lucas, Rex, Shawn and Brady were acting on their own and not affiliated for the U.S. military in a country outside of the U.S. in a country with no treaty agreement. In fact, the marines were also looking for them after it was discovered they were there. Tony was never declared an enemy. If anything, Sami helped save their lives. Sami takes over saying that’s true as they were over their heads out there as bombs were exploding, etc. Tony said he wouldn’t hurt them and Kate pipes up asking if she believed that. Sami rationalizes that Tony proved to her that her parents were still alive and she did believe him. Austin states Sami is not only guilty of the crimes she’s accused of, but in his opinion, a bonfide hero. The lightbulb goes off in Roman and Mickey’s heads and they realize that Austin is right..Sami may not be prosecutable for those crimes. Kate’s mouth drops open in shock as Sami cries in relief. Mickey and Roman leave to make some calls to check on this new concept, leaving Kate in the room with Austin and Sami. She asks what Sami did to Austin overnight (personally I think the NYC tea he’s been drinking must have cleared his brain). Austin tells his mother that Sami’s not a traitor to her country and Kate knows it. He honestly believes Sami saved his brothers and Shawn and Brady lives. Sami agrees. Kate tells Sami flat out it doesn’t wash with her and she’s going down and she hopes she fries. She tells Austin she didn’t mean that literally (liar). Sami calls Kate on finding justification for everything she did to her to ruin her life. Roman and Mickey return, stone faced, saying they called the DA. Kate asks them to just say what their response was, to just spit it out (my sentiments exactly Kate). Roman says the DA and the U.S. Attorney both agree with Austin’s argument. Kate can’t believe it and Sami asks what that means. Roman tells her all the charges have been dropped and she’s free to go. She rushes into Austin’s arms to thank him. He tells her she has his mother to thank as she’s the one to remind him of what Sami had done to be accused of treason. Sami turns and sincerely thanks Kate very much as Kate sits quietly in agony, LOL.

BACK AT JACK AND JEN'S
Jen rushes out to see how Jack’s doing as he closes his laptop. She asks if he’s ready for a cup of coffee. Jack accuses her of plying him with caffeine so he’ll tell her what he’s working on. Jack explains he has to rush off and get their son before Vern turns him into the next copy editor for the Spectator. Jen’s bursting with curiousity for Jack’s secret project. She finds Jack’s jacket and rushes to catch him as it’s cold out when a prescription bottle falls out on the floor from it. Frankie says it’s probably for that time he passed out, but Jen worked in Africa for her dad and knows that it’s a serious medicine and wonders why Jack is taking it. Jen looks up the drug on the internet and finds it’s for a fatal illness. "Oh my God, my husband is dying?" She types away madly at the laptop as the previews roll….

Bonnie tells Mimi: “It’s time for you to rope and brand your initials on Shawn Brady’s butt….”

Kate to John: I need your help to nail Sami once and for all….

Alex to himself as Marlena lies on the couch in a trance like state: Now it’s time my work really began

Jack to Jen: I love you, I love you for saying that, I love you. But we’re not going to cheat death this time. We’re just not….

Episode # 10160; Tape Date: 9/6/05; Air Date: 10/06/05; Director: Roy Steinberg

Summary: Sami is taken into custody…Kate tries to convince Austin to stay out of it, but instead, she gives him an idea of how to save Sami…Shawn and Mimi talk about the kiss…Alex manipulates Marlena into making a drastic step.

At the Loft…Mimi is having flashbacks of being on the roof with Shawn and the kiss. She tells herself to forget it and think of something else…like food. Shawn comes in and she offers to make pancakes and then they proceed to make small talk. Shawn asks her if she wants to talk about the kiss and how good it felt. He talks about how it distracted them after such a hard day and how it was like shock treatment for him and causing him to realize that his relationship with Belle is really over. They talk about how both of them are getting over lost loves and they will both be okay. He says that maybe the kiss was a mistake and afraid that he made her uncomfortable by it. But she says it was okay and it felt right. He tells her that the things he said about her being a wonderful person were true and wanted to make sure that he didn’t mess up anything between them to ruin their friendship. He is going to shower and change and asks if everything is okay between them now and she assures him all is okay…it didn’t mean anything. But to himself, he says it meant something to him.

At the Cop Shop…Roman leads Sami in to a hoard of reporters and photographers. He explodes at them and then takes Sami inside, followed by Austin. Kate shows up as well as Roman asks “what da hell” she is doing there. Sami starts blaming Kate for everything and calls her a bitch. They confirm that Sami is under arrest and Kate demands that Austin take her (Kate) home but he refuses. Mickey arrives (Austin had called him…we KNOW that Sami is in trouble now, lol) as Roman explains the charges to him. Roman suggests that Kate and Austin both go home, but they both refuse as Kate tells them she has even more info on Sami. Mickey suggests that someone else (other than Roman) interrogate Sami, being it is a conflict of interest (I agree) but Roman is determined to handle it himself. Kate pulls Sami aside and tells her that she is going to tell them about how “Stan” supplied drugs to John when he was in such pain. Roman and Mickey escort Sami into Roman’s office as Kate starts on Austin, wanting him to stay out of it. He explains that Sami needs a friend and he is trying to help her since she has no one to turn to. Kate keeps on but he tells her to just leave. But she refuses and continues to trash Sami. He tells her that there is nothing she can say about Sami that he doesn’t already know, but Kate goes on and on, and talks about how she put his brothers’ lives in danger and needs to go to prison. Austin asks her to repeat what she said and she does as a light bulb goes off for him. (I don’t know what it was…guess I missed it). He looks at her and says she did it…she has saved Sami, even though she didn’t mean to. Sami is going to get off the hook and it’s all because of Kate…as she stares at him.

In Roman’s office, he begins to question Sami as she pleads with him to understand. He informs her that she can go to prison for treason for putting those guys in danger and could possibly get the death penalty. She goes to pieces, saying she didn’t even know what was going on…and didn’t even know that Tony was behind it all until it was too late. She only thought it was someone offering her a chance to get revenge on Kate for ruining her life. Mickey stops her from talking, reminding her she could incriminate herself, but Roman assures them that so far, all is off the record. Sami worries about how this will affect her mom, considering all she is already going through and how Will will handle this. Roman says she should have thought about all that before hand. Sami gets deadly serious and says she will kill herself before she goes to death row again.

Outside the Beauty Salon…John sits in the car talking on the phone with Belle (we don’t see her). After he gets off the phone, he calls Tek. It seems that John was having Dr. North followed, but Tek informs him that the cops lost him. John gets concerned and rushes inside to check on Marlena. Inside, he finds out that she left out the back door without explanation or paying. He throws a wad of money at the lady and takes off after her.

Meanwhile, Marlena is outside the Java Café in a hypnotic trance when Alex arrives, telling her they have something important to discuss. She wants to call John but he stops her, assuring her that everything will be okay and then he begins flattering her, telling her how beautiful she looks and reassuring her that she will be loved truly forever. He tells her there is something she needs to do. After almost being run over by a guy on a bicycle (and Alex saving her), she says he saved her and she always feels safe when she is with him. They go inside and again she wants to call John but Alex starts talking about how he is worried about her recovery and how being around her family and being in Salem is hampering her progress. He pulls out the necklace and starts telling her to do exactly as he says.

Later, she is sitting alone, staring off into space, when John comes in and sees her. He starts talking with her and she snaps out of it a bit disoriented. He asks if she is okay and tells her she looks beautiful. She starts talking about Belle and wants to go see her and the baby. John tells her that the baby has her eyes, which thrills her. They talk about the baby as Alex watches from across the room. John talks about how he wasn’t there for her and “Izzy” in the beginning, but Marlena was always there for her. She seems all excited talking about this and John thinks she IS remembering and they are about to have a breakthrough. She asks him if she saved things from when Belle was a baby and he tells her yes. She wants to go through the things and take something to Belle and he says he will help her. She asks him why he calls her “Izzy” and he explains how they named her after Isabella, his first wife, who died right after Brady was born. Marlena says “So I was the only mother Brady knew then”. (I don’t understand why the conversation took this turn, but there must be a point to it). Then Alex walks over (like he just happened by) and brings them coffee and sits down, much to John’s dismay. He accuses John of being paranoid and suggests he get some help. He asks them if they want him to leave and Marlena tells him they were having a nice conversation and assures Alex that she feels safe with John. Alex takes that as a yes and excuses himself, but as he leaves, flashes the necklace at her. She smiles at John and tells him that she wants to continue their talk. She says she needs to tell him something about them. He asks her what as she looks at her and says “I want a divorce”…as John stares at her in shock…and the previews show…

Jen (to Frankie): This is a very serious drug…why is my husband taking this?...

Jack: I don’t want to put them through the pain of watching me die…come Halloween…I am outta here…

Kate (to Sami): You are going down and I hope you fry…

Marlena (to John): That’s why I need you out…that is why I want to be alone…John (to Alex): I understand…you are behind this, pal…

And the credits roll…

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2005

Episode #10,159, Tape date 9/2, Director – Phil Sogard

A new day in Salem has John delving into Alex’s background, as Alex’s plans for Marlena intensify, while others begin their morning with huge quarrels.

AT THE PENTHOUSE, Alex gets a call on his cell (he is in his room) and tells someone not to worry. He is sure John Black has put Dr. Carver up to doing that, but they will not find anything in his medical history. Meanwhile, John is at his computer, and as Marlena comes into the room, tells her to looks at what he found on the good doctor. Marlena is not happy, and won’t look. They argue, & she finally looks. Seems Dr. North has not had a practice in over 10 years. And then to suddenly take on Marlena as a patient. They argue some more, with John telling her Dr. North is NOT helping her to get better, she has remembered nothing at all, not a thing from her past. Marlena claims he makes her feel comfortable in the present. Alex comes out, saying to just ask him if they want to know anything. He goes to John’s laptop, taps a few keys, saying this is a secure website, and claims he spent several years doing research in the Antarctic for NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) on the effects of isolation and lack of sunlight. He then goes to another site, claiming to have spent nearly 4 years on the effects of deep tissue trauma on victims, especially of severe traffic accidents. (My, someone spent some time looking up medical jargon, lolol). Marlena says she has an appt. and leaves, with John stopping Alex, saying he is her husband, he will take her. John leaves.

Alex tells himself he has to separate John & Marlena, that John is trying to ruin all he has worked so hard to accomplish. He says he has to build a wall between them so impenetrable, John will be helpless. He sighs that he almost feels sorry for John, because once he has Marlena under his control, she shall be lost to John forever, and “there is not a damn thing John can do to stop Marlena from being mine”.

AT THE JAVA CAFÉ, Kate is ordering a double expresso, when Roman arrives, ordering a large coffee – black. She mentions Lucas asked her to join him there, but Roman tells her not to get her hopes up, as he will never forgive Kate for what she did. He goes to a table, starts to read the paper, mumbling to himself that no one is going to be able to help Sami now. (Amazing how all the Salemites talk out loud to themselves, and no one nearby is surprised, lol). Kate joins him, telling him how she HAD to expose Sami. He agrees that she did right by turning Sami in (but NOT in that manner, Kate!) and then tells her it was all her fault. She drove Sami to do what she did. Kate talks of Sami getting in bed with Tony, but Roman says Sami did not know who it was, that Kate put Sami in bed with Brandon, and Sami lost it all. He goes on and on, very quietly, really telling Kate off. He leaves. Lucas comes in, joining Kate. She tries to explain, but Lucas, too, will have none of it. He also tells her off, mentioning how she destroyed Will in addition to everything else. He tells her about Austin being at Sami's apt. in just a towel at Sami’s apt. (see below) causing Kate to become furious. Lucas tells her he if off the Sami roller coaster, and also off the Kate Roberts roller coaster. No more, and good-bye. He leaves.

OUTSIDE THE HAIR SALON, John parks the car (a sporty gray convertible) & talks to Marlena again about Alex. She asks if he is jealous, and he says yes, in a way, as she seems closer to Alex than any of her own family. Marlena says she will be about an hour, John is going to wait for her, and she goes in. As he waits, Roman stops by, and John fills him in about looking into Alex’s background. Alex, meanwhile has seen her datebook, learning where she is. Inside the salon, Marlena is all done (her hair had been in a ponytail, and is now down, looks lovely), and Glorianne notes how tense her neck is, give her a small massage, then goes to get some tea. Marlena’s cell rings, but no one replies when she says hello. Oh, we all know it is the evil doctor, lol. He finally says, “remember the music”, and plays some slow tempo song. Marlena does that slight brushing of her cheek towards her hair, and goes into that trance-like “I will do whatever you want me to” mode, grabs her purse and leaves. (Ummm, not even paying her bill, or leaving a tip, tsk, tsk.) She goes out the back door. At the front door, John is getting rather impatient, being that Marlena is taking much longer than the hour she had mentioned. (Sorry, John, and writers, but that would definitely take longer than a hour, with the length of Marlena’s hair.LOL) Glorianne comes out with a cup of tea, and is surprised to find Marlena gone.

AT SAMI’S APT, Austin wakes up on the sofa, to find Sami gone, having left a note. Out in the hall, we see Sami returning, arms full of overpacked bags of groceries, some of which drop out. As she tries to gather them up, Lucas appears to give a hand. He tells her he wants to talk to her, that Will wants to live with him permanently, & he told him he would talk to his mother about it. He wants to go into her apt., as Will is asleep in his. Cue Austin to open the door, clad only in a towel. Lucas flies off the handle, Austin assures him he just got out of the shower and explains trying to help Sami, she was such a mess, and that he slept on the sofa. Everyone is yelling and shouting in the hall. Lucas berates Austin for letting Sami get back in his life, and finally stalks off.

Later, inside the apt, Austin & Sami talk. He tries to comfort her, as she beats herself up. He tells her to learn from all this, and to tell herself that she, Sami Brady, has learned her lesson, and will never lie again to the people she loves. Sami is silent, & Austin notes she is not ready to say that, huh? She grabs a muffin, saying well, it can’t get any worse, right? And right on cue, Knock, Knock. She goes to the door, and it is Roman. He tells her he is there on official police business, and on behalf of the F.B.I. who have agents on the way. And Roman says “Samantha Jean Brady, you are under arrest for treason”. Camera freeze on Sami’s shocked face. And the previews show…..

Shawn to Mimi: Want to talk about it…about the kiss and how good it felt

Roman to Sami: What you did was to commit treason, and it could carry the death penalty

Austin to Kate: She is going to get off, and it’s all thanks to you

John, smiling: What is it? Marlena: I want a divorce.

Episode: 10158
Directed by: Jim Baffico
Tape Date: 9/1/05

SUMMARY: Jen gets help from Doug and Julie, Marlena visits Belle and Claire, Shawn and Mimi grow closer.

DEVERAUX HOME
Jennifer called for Doug and Julie over for an emergency visit, which they did (aren’t they babysitting Zack?). She tells them she had an idea to throw a party for Jack as he just hasn’t been acting himself since his return of being held hostage. Julie lets Jen know that Doug almost hurt his leg jumping out of bed to rush over. Jen didn’t realize they’d go to bed so early and learns it wasn’t to “sleep” and Julie also explains that’s why they always look so happy all the time, LOL!!! Flustered, then smiling, Jen continues on about the party. Doug likes the idea, wishing more wives would get that idea and stage whispers to Julie that he’ll inspire her more when they get back to what they were doing. Jennifer is amazed, but Julie simply smiles and says use it or lose it before asking what kind of party Jen wants. Later Jen is a little insulted when Julie brings up how much Jen cared for Frankie years ago. Doug explains that Julie still cares for all her former beaus, but he’s the one that goes home with her every night and they smooch. Julie knows Jack is Jenn’s one and only, but remembers seeing her and Frankie on a cruise ship in the moonlight (while she herself was drinking champagne with someone else). They all laugh and Doug and Julie kiss as they laugh they could write a book with all their comedies and dramas they’ve had together. (As a matter of fact, they have…it’s called LIKE SANDS THROUGH THE HOURGLASS. I copied and pasted Amazon.com’s description below the spoiler for those interested.)

Meanwhile, in the living room, Frankie walks in the front door to find Jack typing madly on his computer. He’s shocked when he sees what Jack’s typing about unexplained absences, knowing it’s not for an article. Jack wants to protect his family from watching him suffer a painful death. Frankie calls him selfish because Jennifer would suffer the rest of her life wondering where he went and why because she’s so gentle, kind and loving. Jack loses it, saying Frankie has been playing him all along because he’s in love with Jennifer and wants her all to himself and tackles him. They stop wrestling and Frankie justifies how hard Jack’s worked to get him to stay in Salem and be with Jen. Jack apologizes, saying it’s hard to hear about Jen with another man and Frankie agrees it won’t come from him. Jack explains he needs someone to teach Jack Jr. how to throw a ball because Jennifer can’t..Alice can throw better than her, LOL. Frankie agrees with that. Jack rationalizes that Jen needs someone to love her as much as she loves them and it’s Frankie she needs. Frankie admits the old feelings came back being with her and encourages Jack to tell Jennifer the truth about his illness. Jack refuses and confirms he’s still able to think clearly. The two men exchange a quick hug as Jack apologizes to Frankie.

ON THE ROOF

Mimi remembers giving baby Claire to Shawn when returning her to the nursery and how emotional she got holding the baby. Shawn joins her on the roof to see how she’s doing. He tries to convince her that she made a decision to have an abortion, which at the time she thought was right, and many women can’t have a baby and live normal lives. She can adopt. Mimi knows she only has herself to blame for being unable to have children and losing Rex. We join them later as Mimi cries, calling herself a loser. Shawn rubs her arm and understands, probably more than anyone he says. Mimi wonders why Belle gets everything, husband, baby, money and Shawn mooning over her. When will it be her turn? He reminds her how she won the Dating Game, but she reminds him how her mom stole all her winnings and bought losing lotto tickets. She continues her pity party saying she shouldn’t be on the roof as it’s a place for lovers where people carve their initials by the door. Shawn starts to moan about losing Belle and she won’t be out done, saying she thinks what happened was God’s way of telling her she doesn’t deserve a baby. He hugs her and later tells her how wonderful she is and is everything a man looks for…they kiss.

AT THE HOSPITAL
Belle hands Claire to Lexi when the phone rings. It’s John to ask his Izzy if she’s up to a visit by her mom and dad together. Belle’s thrilled and agrees, but after hanging up, Alex tells Marlena and John he’s against the idea. Even Marlena agrees with John that it wouldn’t do her any harm to see the baby. Alex gives his “permission”, but only if he can be with Marlena to monitor her reaction. John and Marlena arrive at the hospital and he sends her in to see Belle as he chats with Lexie. Alex gets off the elevator and he refers to him as their shadow to Lexie. Lexie (and John) both hope seeing the baby will bring Marlena’s memory back. Belle introduces Claire to her grandparents. Lexie calls to get information on all of Alex’s cases and is put on hold when he hangs up the call on her, saying he wouldn’t do that. He threatens to expose what she’s doing with Tek to Abe if she interferes with his treatments to Marlena. John arrives and knocks on Lexie’s door. Alex leaves, asking Dr. Carver to give his regards to her husband. John asks if she found any dirt on Alex and Lexie apologizes saying he can find out more with his connections than she could and rushes out to give a family some bad news supposedly.

Belle gives Marlena the baby to hold and John steps outside when they first arrive. Marlena has a flashback of holding Belle as a baby and she says “oh Isabella, you’re perfect in every way” as Belle stares at her mom, knowing she’s remembering. Marlena raves about Claire’s hair and says she looks just like her mom. Belle’s thrilled her mom is with her and her daughter and when asked, tells her that Shawn and Mimi are Claire’s future Godparents. Marlena remembers how Belle called out Shawn’s name while in labor. Belle figures it’s because they were together for so long, but she’s going to make her marriage work. Belle says Shawn should move on with his life too.

Marlena gives Claire back to Belle and shortly thereafter Alex comes to tell Marlena it’s time to go. She gets up, takes her purse and says goodbye to Belle and leaves (no kiss, hug, just like she’s visiting a patient) but does promise to come back again at least. They get on the elevator as John gets off it after his visit with Lexie, and Marlena tells him goodbye too. (so much for Alex monitoring her with Belle and the baby). He joins Belle and she tells him that she and mom were having a good time as she held the baby and gave her advice about the baby when Dr. North came and took her away. She tells him she’s sure Mom was remembering. She tells him how Marlena held the baby and remembered her as a baby. John sits on the bed and hugs Belle and promises to bring Marlena back, no matter what he has to do as the previews roll….

PREVIEWS
John rants to Marlena: “Here we’ve been busting ourselves up trying to get your memory back and don’t know a damn thing about his.”
Alex walks up saying “All you had to do was ask.”

Kate to Roman: “We can work our way through it, I know we can.”
Roman’s reply: “If it were only that easy Kate.”

Lucas to Sami and a shirtless: “You’re a damn fool for letting her back in your life.” Both of you.” He stalks off as Sami breaks into tears.

And the credits roll….
